So, glasspyramids and I watched the new episode of Criminal Minds last night together through the magic of the internet and dvrs. I don't feel like it would have been difficult to make the spinoff characters more interesting. It was almost as if they were trying to fit them into stereotypes so they can grow naturally in the show, and that's fine to a point. But they need to have something to grow on.

The Quantico BAU all have reasons for doing what they do, and in the early episodes we don't know what the reasons are yet, but we know they're there, just from the way they react to cases. These new ones just seem to treat it like a job, and if I recall right, Token Girl almost seemed to view it as an imposition.

And what exactly was the point of "Mick" loping to the top of the building opposite with a sniper rifle? Does the San Francisco Police Department not have snipers? And is he Irish or British or what, and how exactly does that work? The FBI doesn't really recruit internationally and given his performance, I'm skeptical that Mick had some unique mix of talents ( ... )
