Cameron's keys jingled as she made her way across the parking lot. She glanced down, trying to pick out her car key in the dim light. She made her way to her car with her head still down and jumped slightly when a pair of feet came into her line of sight. She looked up to see Chase leaning against her car.

“Hey.” His voice was mellow, his mood having obviously changed since she last saw him.

“Hi.” She replied, letting her keys fall to her side.

“Look, I just wanted to say you were right.” He started, pushing off the car to stand on his own. “And I'm sorry about how I reacted earlier. I just...I love you so much Allison, and if you'd been hurt or, god forbid, killed I would be a wreck.” He stopped and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. “I dunno what's going on with you and Hadley but if it's something you feel like exploring then you should do it.” Cameron furrowed her brow in confusion.

“There's nothing going on with Remy and I.” Chase smiled somewhat forlornly.

“So it's Remy now is it? Doesn't that kind of prove my point?” He wasn't angry, but he seemed, to Cameron, to have given up. On what she didn't know...her perhaps.

“Chase...Robert,” she started, “I swear to you there is nothing going on between us. Today when I went to check on her was the first real conversation we've ever had.”

Chase nodded not meeting her eyes.

“Be that as it may, I still think you were right about us taking a break.” He said slowly. “Maybe we just need to fall in love again.” Now his eyes met hers, a small flicker of hope in them. She smiled gently.

“Maybe.”

They were silent for a few moments.

“Well,” Chase said, rubbing his hands together, “I guess I'll let you get home. You must still be pretty exhausted.” Cameron nodded.

“I am.”

He moved aside to let her unlock her car and open the door. She paused and looked back at him before getting in.

“I love you Allison.” Chase said.

“I know.” She responded. “I love you too.” She turned to get into the car.

“But you're not in love with me anymore are you?” He asked, making her pause again.

“Honestly?” He nodded his head. She sighed slightly.

“I don't know anymore Chase.” She said. “I miss the butterflies that I used to get around you. I miss how you could make me smile or blush with just a look. I want to find those things again and...I don't know if I can find them with you.” Chase nodded and Cameron turned and climbed into the car. She leaned out the open door to look up at him.

“I do love you.” She said. He just nodded again and turned to leave. Cameron sighed once more and closed the door. She watched Chase's retreating back until he was through the hospital doors, then pulled out and made her way home.

“Morning sleepy head.”

Remy cracked one eye open. “Morning Mr. I'm-going-to-wake-up-dying-patients-in-much-need-of-rest.”

Foreman laughed lightly. “You're not dying.” He stopped seeing the look Remy was giving him. “Ok, you are dying but not today, not from this.” He conceded. “So I hear you're up for the drug trials?”

Remy nodded. “Cameron talked to you?”

“Yep, saw her as I was comin' in this morning.” He said, checking her vitals, among other things.

“She's here at work this early?” Remy said, still squinting her eyes from the glare of the lights. “Shouldn't she be at home, resting?” Foreman glanced over his shoulder.

“It's Cameron. If she's not helping someone or saving someone's life, she doesn't know what to do with herself.” He said approaching the bed. “So, as soon as you're up and recovered I'll get you started on treatment alright?” Remy nodded.

“Sounds good doc.” She said with a smile. Foreman smiled and turned to leave. “Hey, uh could you do me a favor?” Remy said, stopping him. He turned around to face her. “Um, if you see Cameron, could you just ask her to come up here?” She asked.

“Sure.” He said, shrugging slightly. “Any particular reason why?”

Remy felt her cheeks get warm as a blush crept up her features. “No reason, just wanted to talk I guess.”

Foreman raised an eyebrow. “I'll let her know.” He said, before walking out.

Remy let her head fall back on her pillow with a sigh. “Don't fall for the straight girl, don't fall for the straight girl.” She muttered to herself.

“Am I going to have to add delirium and hallucinations to your list of symptoms?”

Remy jumped slightly and looked to the doorway. She let a small smile drift across her face.

“Wow he's fast.” She said, mostly to herself.

“Who's fast?” Cameron asked, “or wait, do I not want to know?” She feigned a look of sickness.

“Foreman.” Remy started.

“Seriously?” Cameron interrupted, “you and Foreman?”

“What? No!” Remy interjected. “Where the hell did you get that idea?” Cameron shrugged.

“I dunno, you two seem...friendly.”

Remy laughed and shook her head. “No way, never in a million years and only if I went crazy.” Now Cameron laughed.

“Aw, come on. He's not that bad, is he?” She asked.

“No, he's just so not my type.”

“Well, what is your type?” Cameron asked, a small smile playing on her lips. Remy hesitated slightly, she ran a hand over the back of her neck.

“Um, well when it comes down to it I guess I definitely prefer women.” She said, still rubbing her neck awkwardly. Cameron laughed.

“Ok, that rules out half of the populace,” She approached Remy's bed and sat down on the side. “Come on, what's your type?”

Remy looked Cameron up and down as she perched next to her.

“If I say amazingly beautiful, blonde, ER doctors are you going to freak out?” She asked, meeting Cameron's gaze.

Now it was the Cameron's turn to blush. Her mouth opened and closed a few times but no sound came out. Remy's throat tightened, worrying that she'd said too much too soon.

“Describe 'freak out'.” Cameron said, not raising her eyes off the floor. Remy swallowed.

“Kind of what you're doing right now.” Remy said, raising her upper body and leaning on her elbows. “Look, I'm sorr-” She started.

“No,” Cameron said, stopping her, “no, it's ok I just...I really want to be your friend and get to know you as a friend and...can we, can we just go back to that conversation? I'm not freaking out I just...I want to be your friend.” She finished lamely. Remy nodded intently.

“Sure, yeah, just forget what I said ok? We can be friends.” She said, her heart racing a little. Cameron smiled.

“I don't think I can forget someone calling me amazingly beautiful.” She said softly, still gazing at the floor. Remy smiled slightly.

“Well...just take it as a compliment, you know, one of those everyday things.” She said. Cameron nodded.

“Ok,” She said, still smiling, “I can do that.”

“So, like I was saying, Foreman's fast.” Remy started.

“Whoa,” Cameron said, holding up her hands, “just because I want to be your friend, doesn't mean I want to hear about your sex life.” She said, her voice dancing with laughter. Remy rolled her eyes.

“I asked him if he would ask you to come up here,” She explained, “and right after he left, you showed up, thus...” She trailed off leaving Cameron to put two and two together.

“I get it.” She said.

“But what I want to know is, what were you doing already on your way to see me? Gonna try to get the jump on me while I was asleep?” Remy said, smirking slightly. This time Cameron rolled her eyes.

“Are you always this coy in the morning?” She asked.

“Dunno, want to find out?”

Cameron couldn't help the burst of laughter that escaped her lips.

“How does a shower sound?” She asked, suddenly.

“Whoa, hey,” Remy said, holding up her hands, “what happened to, 'let's just be friends'?” She smiled mockingly. Cameron poked her in the side gently, but hard enough to elicit a, “hey!” from Remy.

“I meant, you've been in bed a couple days now and,” she leaned over the brunette slightly and sniffed, “yeah, you definitely could use a shower.”

“Hey, give the cripple a break!” Remy said defensively. Cameron gave her a look.

“You're not a cripple.”

“I know, but I couldn't think of anything else that would fit.” Remy said. “Anyway, the shower will have to wait. I kind of have a thing about using public showers and I don't think I'm good to drive home just yet.”

“Well what if I gave you a ride?” Cameron offered. Remy seemed to ponder it a moment or two.

“Why not, you sure you don't have important ER doc things you should be doing?” She asked.

“I'm not on today.” Cameron said simply.

“Then...why are you here so early?” Remy asked, her eyebrow arched. Cameron smiled abashedly.

“I was here to see you.”

Remy smiled.

“So how about that shower?”
