I have to say...I agree with you. I mean, this whole pisode basically showed us that Dean doesn't really know Sam at all...it kinda ticked me off.

I'm just going to forget this episode like it never existed, unless it somehow proves to be important later on. Hell, Sam could have called Castiel, too. Sure, both Bobby and Cas might be a bit pissed at Sam, but I think both of them would be very concerned about him being in the wrong body and satanists summoning up demons and Lucifer.

This episode is a more extreme example, but a lot of episodes this season seem almost deliberately engineered to piss off its fans. I see a couple of possibilities for this - a. lazy writing, b. everyone wants to show to be over so badly they're doing it on purpose (writers have done this before on other shows in the past), c. pissing a lot of people off and going in weird, random directions is somehow part of their end of series plot plan. I guess it will be more apparent by the end of the season.

If I take this episode seriously, what purpose does it serve to have Dean really, truly not knowing Sam? It makes Dean look like the bad guy. It would mean that everything Sam said before was true, that Dean never knew him, would not be angry if he understood his thinking.

But I don't think that is true, yes Dean probably doesn't 100% know him and I believe he did not entirely get what his brother was thinking with Ruby and the demon powers use, but I think he knows his brother pretty well on a lot of things.
