Details. Mal was one of the imperfect mutants Mason Eckhart created with Adam Kane's experimental research on selected mutations. He joined Silva and Rucker in obtaining genetic samples of certain individuals so that Mason could perfect the process. Mutant X attempted to stop them, but he and Silva were too powerful for them, even though Mal was on crutches.
