There is an orange-red book that's hungry for ketchup and is eating up all the tiny packets in the cafeteria. As it hops from table to table it leaves post-it notes in the shape and colors of Hawaiian shirts and that has really bad poetry written on them. The book has also been checked out in Naruto's name.

Jack's fear of rejection has made him subconsciously seek out validation and acceptance. Hinata was nice to him and actually kept a conversation going with him for longer than three minutes. She then talked to him other times that she saw him. It made him feel like he wasn't totally unwanted, so he couldn't help but start to care about her in return.

Also, Jack is a teenage male and Hinata has big boobs. XP

As for THOSE people, Jack doesn't like them at all, and will target them with his robots first. >P

He probably acknowledges somewhere in the back of his mind that Zidane might be better for Hinata than him, but he is selfish and doesn't want to give her up for that reason. It is also his first crush because Chase Young and Kimiko don't exist in this verse and so he gets jealous easily and would hate it if they suddenly came back, especially since he is so convinced he'll be rejected that will make it a sure thing

A good part of it is being used to having to pick up after people, and considering everything he's been exposed to from entering during the tail end of time travel plot to his mentorling causing chaos in the gym... he's starting to make connections from his life here to "life" in the World.

Also being moved to the computer lab so the muse can't argue about having more work to do helps get him outside more doing other things.
