WHAT-IF WEDNESDAY

YOUR MISSION THIS WEDNESDAY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT:

Steampunk.

Yeah that's about it.

It's somewhere in the mid/late 1800s except with all kinds of rad steam-powered and/or clockwork technological advances that are totally implausible but, more importantly, totally awesome. Airships everywhere! Locomotive ( Read more... )

LEELA is a chrononaut from the future, where everyone is much more sexy and futuristic, but curiously enough, still incredibly steampunk. She traveled here in her time machine and has advanced clockwork technology that makes holograms and such. She tucks her skirts up above her knee and wears her corset outside of her clothes, and her knee high boots are full of knives and gadgetry.

She also wears a fantastic monogoggle with flipdown lenses.

IGGY is the victim of a terrible horrible evil scientist who did unpleasant and very painful grafting and other such evil things. He recently escaped, and now he is just another blind street urchin in a dark London alley. He keeps his wings hidden under a large coat he stole from someone, and he begs for scraps and sometimes makes a bit of cash mending clockwork things for people. He is mostly starving and cold and dressed in rags, though.

Belle: Is the book loving daughter of an inventor and is currently the captive/houseguest of another inventor who was horribly scarred by some sort of explosiony boiler mistake thing and lives with him in a huge airship with a lot of clockwork objects that are so precise that they seem to have personalities of their own.

Duo: He doesn't change too much. He's still got the braid even! He's a rather dashing thief (and part-time airship pirate) who's almost always on the wrong side of whatever the current law-figure is. Rather popular though, because he's got this dashing lawbreaker thing going on. Yup, he's a scoundrel

Roderich: Is the oldest son and heir to the Edelstein airship manufacturing empire, creators and designers of some of the finest airships in the world's top militaries, not to mention their line of small pleasurecraft, perfect for the noble or wealthy middle class patron looking to impress their guests and neighbors.

Unfortunately, he doesn't want it. His father keeps putting him in charge of things and he keeps dodging his duties to either play his own music or construct fantastical musical creations out of clockwork. His father has yet to find out, mostly because Roderich has a completely wonderful assistant who does all the actual work for him and just finds him so he can sign things, but there's no doubt he would not approve. Roderich meanwhile is trying to decide wtf he should do about all this.
