A prayer shawl is a shawl one wears to pray in, simply put. But for me, while I knit it, I do a mantra in my head.
For example, I finished a silvery prayer shawl last year where the pattern was 3 knits, 3 purls, repeat across the row. So with every stitch, I recited, "Maiden, Mother, Crone". :)
This red one is dedicated to a goddess I am currently working with. So I shall wear it whenever I am at Her shrine meditating (in my home) or if I wish to honour Her presence at festivals.
