I'm really glad I didn't go with writing my first idea of manifest destiny!America. I really like the voice you gave him...young, confident, and ready to see what's out there.

YOUR SONG IS PERFECT! I freaking love that song. In fact, senior year of high school, we had to pick our own personal graduation songs for a class (and then explain why and yadda yadda) and I chose that one. That is perfect for this piece, I think XD

Then he called me immature and said I couldn’t rebel against my parent because I didn’t like a little tax.
...We didn't rebel because we didn't like a little tax. We rebelled because we felt our rights as English citizens weren't being upheld.
I do like that you mentioned that America didn't want to go to war, however, since it really was a last resort (and of a minority if I recall my history class correctly).

Oh I know that, and so does mind-grabbing little!Al. That's Al talking about Matt. Matt just thinks he griping about taxes and belittles the point.
My mom's an American History teacher. She'd kill me if I said the Revolution was fought over taxes. Hahaha XD

Alrighty. I had a hunch it was probably just what Matt believed, but I kind of wanted to make sure. That's one of my pet peeves about anyone talking about the American Revolution...saying it was only about tea and/or taxes haha

Yay~

Little Alfred is such a cute and happy kid. That'd be awesome if all kids (and/or reading buddies or siblings) were like that.

Oooh goodie! You noticed the subtlety there, awesome! You get a cookie ^_^

There's a bit more truth to that statement than you'd think. Most, if not all, the nations we...oh, shoot, how do I convey this properly? The states that we were at war with and later stabilized (barring Vietnam because we pulled out), we try to set it up with a government that strongly resembles ours, based off philosophies of a republic and voting and Monday Night Football and what have you. ^_^

Thank you! :)

My headcannon is that Canada/Matt might be soft spoken, but when he's with family, especially his brother, he can be rather loud and violent. That and the Mamas bit is like the only headcannon I have that stays consistent from fic to fic.
