LOVE the banner, girrrrrrl! <3

It's so hard to pick just one for people, everyone on my flist has such good lists! I'm gonna try to write for more people before I start giving someone more than one, lol.

I already have an idea for you though...but it might end up being a little longer than one comment. ;D

I made a banner with an otter, too... :3

Lol, I've made a list with the pairings and acts that seem interesting. So far I've got 9 possibilities (and I haven't decided about what to write for valhalla37). I think I'll end up writing more than one drabble, but only for people on my flist or that I know XDD (let's see.. because that Boone + Miles thing has to be written)

PERFECT! ;D

I haven't looked at everyone's lists yet (I've been at my boyfriend's house since yesterday, and I had to commandeer his laptop to post mine, lol), but I'm sure I'll have plenty to write. I agree, I'll limit double-posts to personal friends on the flist. And I always try to write something for someone who writes for me, so the to-write list will probably grow soon enough. :P

I know, I already had so many other fics I wanted to write this week, but now five acts came along and I put it all aside! XDD At least it happened to be during my week off, so I'm really happy. :D

something in the way part 1; Miles/Naomi (sideways); trauma, insanity, love; PG-13 pann_cake May 12 2011, 01:29:01 UTC
(note: this is going to be a few comments so watch for the next parts. :P)

Miles wasn’t opening up during his injured-on-duty therapy group, so they assigned him his own personal shrink. And he had quite liked sitting there quietly with a frown on his face, clutching a cup of cheap coffee. He thought being shot would at least earn him some decent coffee, but no dice. LAPD’s shell-shocked officers and detectives get the same coffee as everyone else.

This is what he talked about during his first solo therapy session. The crappy coffee and the taxpayers of the city paying him to get shot at by drug lords. Not that he can’t sleep, that he jumps at every loud noise, that he can barely keep a conversation going with the people that matter to him, that being out of work is driving him more crazy than the after-effects of getting shot.

And the after-effects have been pretty intense. He saw something, sometime between when the bullet hit him and he hit the ground. He saw something. Something he can’t explain, something about an ( ... )

He watches the game by himself. It takes his mind off things, even if he can’t really concentrate. When his knee starts twitching halfway through and he realizes he’s jonesing for his pills, he knows he’s in trouble.

He reaches for the phone thinking to call Jim. If he comes over, Miles will have a distraction. But he can’t tell Jim. Jim is perfect at everything, always, and an addiction would be just one more flaw that Miles has and Jim doesn’t.

Miles twists the tops off the pill bottles. He takes the pain pill, because his side hurts too much without it. Then he stops. Maybe Naomi’s concern is finally hitting him, maybe he’s realizing how screwed he would be if he keeps this up. Plus, he’s pretty sure if he does overdose, Naomi would be waiting for him in the afterlife to kick his ass. In any case, he puts the rest of the pills away ( ... )

Is this fabulous fic over yet? Because I totally loved it ;D --- heehee, I knew you couldn't resist writing Miles boy... but the way you used "trauma" was convincent! I mean, linking the sideways with their original lives in the form of nightmares after being shot? MADE OF WIN

I also like their relationship --- you make them work awkwardly perfect! They could be that way, yet so believable.

THANK YOU :))))

AW YAY, I'm so glad you like it! Yes I could not resist writing my boy, but I felt a little bad about putting him through all that. XD I've been wanting to write cop!Miles shot on duty, and your prompts just made me have to write it.

I figured a near-death experience would trigger the flashes, and that Libby can't be the only one who thinks she's crazy when she gets them! I'm really glad that you liked his flashes. ;D

Miles and Naomi are so fun to write together! <33

He will do this a thousand times.

(There's some comfort in that.)

He will try to save her a thousand times.

His chalk scratches against the blackboard, another flaking white line joining dozens more. The numbers mean so much they barely mean anything at all -- just that she's gone, and he can't get her back.

(Not here, at least. Not in this lifetime.)

That he's 30 years behind where he should be, stuck in a dingy Ann Arbor classroom while the rest of everyone he knows is hundreds of miles away on an island that defies the rules of everything he's ever known. But the variables -- there's pages and pages and hundreds of experiments and years supporting his work, that whatever happened, happened, but he just can't give a damn, not with what's happened, with what he's lost ( ... )

♥♥♥!

This is beautiful--I loved the image of the blackboard as palimpsest of erasing and trying again (back to the drawing board?). It's such a great trope, especially for Daniel. I also liked the idea of Daniel being able to hold all of these realities in suspension at once, so that there's no real "ending" to the fic, happy or sad. This was lovely!

Awwwwww, thank you so, so much! Angsty-science!Dan trying to save Charlotte is pretty much my fic bread and butter, and what I often come back to even if it feels a little overdone, so I really, really appreciate the comment! I think one of my favourite things about Daniel and Charlotte's "story" is that there's such a neat play on what's past and present, that Dan or Charlotte are perpetually stuck in one or the other, based on their histories or what happens to Charlotte.

So, in long-winded conclusion, thank you so, so much for the lovely feedback! :D
