I would say definitely apply to Michigan State. It's a great environment--lots to do, close to many other good areas of the state (Detroit, Grand Rapids, etc.), and cost of living is very reasonable.

Of course, it's gray and snowy and slushy from December - April, but the lovely summer/fall make up for that, I think.

And as for going to bars with friends, I don't know... I've gone to bars by myself before. Okay, well, I did it twice. But both times, I met people which I doubt would've happened if I'd been there with a group. Then again, safety in numbers.

And to tie this all together, Michigan State has some good bars. There!

Ouch, burned by the momster. But I feel better in knowing that we weren't just being pretentious when we thought everyone was really immature in that crew.

Also, Mike's and Eric's? They're rooming together, or Eric got his own place? I was thinking he was staying with your folks as well. And, well, I don't count on Mike ever getting his own place, at least not until the inevitable happens, but then he'll just be living alone in the same place. (I'm sorry I'm so mean, I just got off of work and bit my tongue there so hard it bled about the whole thing that happened Friday morning with the cat.)

I forget, is U of I on your list? Only reason I ask is because I've always been told their GLBT scene is fabulous (no pun intended).

Also, who the fuck gives paychecks out on Sunday?

Iowa's actually not on my list because their graduate program in Student Affairs is horrendous (from what I've heard), and that it's really sub-par on the national level as far as preparation.

Eric has his own place, well, with Jon Wilke, but yeah.

And, they give out their paychecks on the 5th and 20th of every month. Since the 5th falls on a Sunday...

Ahhh, okay. I guess I'm not real familiar with student affairs programs... I just couldn't remember if they were on your list or not.

I'm glad Eric's got his own place. I count roommates as having your own place, for the most part.

And I guess I'm used to getting paid every other Thursday at the PD. I got paid on the 15th and 30th for workstudy at IWC and the 20th at Stratford, but since neither place operated over the weekend, they'd just do checks the Friday beforehand if that date fell on a weekend.
