Heh. *raises hand* Guilty as charged on both counts of that second cartoon. I haven't bought 4e, have no plans to. The miniatures part doesn't bother me so much (my groups have always played with miniatures, no big deal if they want to include that officially), but the use of such MMORPG things as "threat" and "aggro" just drive me up the wall.
I play WoW; those things are a part of a computer-generated game so the A.I. can attempt to mimic a living-being's thought process and create a suitable challenge. They have no place in a table-top RPG, they just don't.
Well, at least not in terms of tables & charts & abilities & feats. The TRUE RPG'er knows the real way to manage threat & aggro:
"Hey Ms. GM!! I brought homemade double-chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips for game tonight..."
The down side of an extended con and super duper extra powers of awesome GoH's returning? I didn't get to see everyone I wanted to see...including you :(
... and this time Webcomic Warriors Frag will be scheduled speciffically to not conflict w/your other commitments. There's even talk of trying to get Kurtz on the list so youtwo can lead your respective teams in battle. And in case you're wondering the final score was 5-2 Army of Dorkness. More cool memories later. This keyboard is drek. Good as always to see you John.
