"She'll be right down," Ginny said as she reappeared in the Common Room.

"Thanks, Gin." Ron stood by the sofa nearest the fire shuffling his feet and looking anxiously toward the stairs.

Ginny plopped into an armchair and crossed her arms with a 'huff.' "I can't believe that McGonagall let you come visit Hermione for her birthday. Don't see why Harry couldn't come too."

"Don't pout, Harry doesn't have today off," Ron said. "I don't think McGonagall would have let him come; visitors are supposed to be family only. So, technically I'm here visiting you."

"If you're visiting me, then I want whatever gift you're hiding behind your back." Ginny reached out a hand toward Ron. He took a step closer to the wall and said, "No way, 's for Hermione."

"What is it? Chocolate Frogs, Bertie Botts…"

"No-"

"Ooohhh, something from the shop… something naughty perhaps?" She jumped up and tried to get around Ron to see what he was hiding. He used his size to his advantage and was able to dodge her. Not giving up, Ginny used her size and stepped on the sofa then jumped onto Ron. He instinctively brought his arms around to catch her when she threw her arms around his neck and hung from his large frame.

Ginny looked at the bouquet in Ron's arms. "Daisies?"

"Oi!" Ron yelled. "Geroff me, yeh brat! You almost ruined 'em."

Ginny let go and landed gracefully on the floor. She eyed the slightly crumbled arrangement warily. "You know, Harry gave me a large, very beautiful bouquet of roses for my birthday…"

"So?" Ron said defensively.

"So, Hermione kept commenting on how wonderful they were and all."

"Yay, well, that may be…"

"Honestly Ron, with two jobs I'm sure you could afford a gift for your girlfriend that didn't look like you picked them from Mum's garden."

Ron looked at the ground, his ears flushing bright red.

"Please tell me you didn't get these from the Burrow, Ron. Tell me you at least bought her these flowers."

"I-" he stammered. "I bought her something. Besides, I reckon Hermione won't care where the flowers came from."

"Exactly," Hermione said as she suddenly approached the siblings, "It's the thought that counts." Her eyes locked with Ron's and her smile grew wide. "Hi Ron," she said softly.

"Hermione." He reached out to embrace her, but found his hands still full. "Here, these are for you," he said, offering her the flowers.

"Daisies, my favourite. You remembered!"

"Yay, well…" He smiled sheepishly. "Don't think I'll be forgetting that walk in the garden anytime soon," he whispered when he leaned forward to kiss her temple.

"Mmm, me either," she said smiling up at him. Just before their lips could meet, Ginny cleared her throat loudly. "Oh! Er, sorry…" Hermione tried to hide her blush by burying her face in her bouquet. When she did so, she heard the faint sound of Ron saying, "I love you," coming from the flowers.

Her eyes shot up to meet Ron's. "Brilliant!" She said breathlessly.

Ron toed the carpet and shrugged," ′s nothing."

Hermione cupped his cheek. "I love them, and I love you too," she whispered. She stood on the tips of her toes to better reach his mouth and gave him a loving kiss that he eagerly reciprocated.

"Want me to take those upstairs for you, Hermione?" Ginny offered, interrupting the moment before it could get too heated.

"Yes, thank you." As Hermione handed the flowers off to Ginny, Ron reached over and took a single daisy from the arrangement. He placed it tenderly behind Hermione's ear, smiled and said, "Beautiful."

"Why don't we take a walk and I can give you your other birthday present?" Ron suggested.

"I'd like that very much." As they headed out the portrait hole and through the corridors of Hogwarts, Hermione could hear Ron's words of love whispering from the dainty daisy she wore in her hair. She couldn't remember a happier birthday.
