During lunch, we could hear the gossip, about us flow around. Instead of letting my friends feel down. I had to break the silence and the tension between us. I looked at Yuusuke, who was writing in his notebeook which he called his "precious scores" and holding onto his sandwhich which he had bitten into but never removed from his mouth until finished writing.
"So how are the songs coming, Yuu?"
He finally bit down on his sandwhich, chewing then swallowing before smiling. "Actually, I just finished another new song just now. Here, look."
He handed his score book to me. I followed the music notes and sang the song in my head. This melody was so sweet and beautiful, the kind I liked. I guess you can say that's Yuu for you. He created songs that were to each of our tastes, it went around and sometimes put together.
I nodded in delight, "It's amazing!"
His face brightened, "Really?" His voice melodically pitched.
I nodded once more before grabbing my chopsticks and eating the noodles that Yuu had bought me in compensation for the fight earlier. He took his notebook back and shoved it into his bag before finishing up his sandwhich. Yuu was someone I could be proud of being twins with.
The lounch period had ended and we were back to practicing. I sat down, laying down my fingers upon the strings of my guitar. The melody that pour out from Riku's bass and Yuu's guitar was so fascinating. Then the beat that Ryuuhei's drums gave off was perfectly in tuned with the melody. My fingers were carried away by the music, then Rin's voice kind of threw it off but at the moment Yuu's voice came with hers, both of their voices together were like a perfect harmony.
When we finished, we still had enough time to go to the las class of the day. We were all in the same class and we were pretty much late. even after packing up in a hurry and sprinting all the way to class, we ended up interrupting class.
Late by a minute, this ticked me off.
We all took our seats and of course Yuu and I were seperated. I was in tghe front of the room at the left hand corner. You could probably guess where Yuu was sitting, of course it was at the back of the room at the right hand corner. Ryuuhei was in the middle of the class, he was so bored he annoyed the teacher by tapping a tune with his pencils. Rin sat two seats in front of Yuu, while Riku was sitting two seats behind me. This was the only class we were all in together, APUSH. From the corner of my eyes, I could see Yuu nodding away in sleep. I laughed to myself, quietly.
After the class had ended, we all packed up and found ourselves gathering at Yuu's desk, where he slept peacefully. It's amazing how this guy still keeps up his GPA like this. We tried waking him up but it was no where near possible. So instead, we asked Ryuuhei to carry him to his house. He agreed and picked Yuu up with ease. Everyone followed right behind me. Yuu's house was like a hang out den for us. It always was since the day he moved out of his parents' house. It was always kept clean and had almost everything we needed and wanted. Amazing how someone who's always known to be heartless can care so much about his friends.
When we arrived, I opened the door with the spare key he had given me in case of an emergency. Opening the door, Ryuuhei put Yuu down on the sofa and went off with everyone else. On the other hand, I stayed on the floor next to the sofa with Yuu.
Hours had passed and the house became quiet when everyone found themselves watching a movie in Yuu's entertainment room. While Yuu was still sleeping like Sleeping Beauty. I gave my mom a call to in form her about my stay over at Yuu's house. I sat next to the sofa. My eyes started to fall slowly. Then I drifted off into a peacful sleep.
When I awoke, the trash that was all over the floor and the commotion that came from the other room had disappeared along with the sleeping beauty. I looked around the moonlit room, everything felt like a dream. A blanket was wrapped around me and I had been sleeping in the exact same spot Yuu had been. Then I heard foot steps making their way toward me and stopping not to far. Yuu stood there leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, one leg holding him up, the other cross over his ankles, and his eyes peering sleepily into mine. He then stood up and walked over to me, picking me up.
"Yuu put me down. I can walk."
He stayed silent as he carried me to his room.
He put me down on his bed and opened up his closet. He threw a pair of pajamas my way, I could see he had already changed. He walked out of the room, closing the door behind him. I was quessing he wanted me to change, so I did. I walked out of the room and heard a melody, of an unknown song, pour out from his studio upstairs. As I walked through the hallway from his bedroom, I found the others in the entertainment room sleeping, one on top of the other. I was so sure that Yuu had taken a picture of this for blackmail someday. I made my way slowly toward his studio. Peering through the large glass, I saw him with his headphones on with his favorite guitar and singing. His voice flew with the melody of the song. Not wanting to disturb him, I sat down on the sofa in the room, watching from beyond the glass.
After he had finished, I found myself wanting to clap but I knew he couldn't ear of see me. He started writing something down in his book; Yuu had kept a whole library of his own handwritten scores in the room I was in. They were stacked up on the shelves behind me. Rows and rows of his own inspiration. I watched him put his guitar down and walk out. as he opened the door, I jumped up and glomped him. He never avoided me like he did with Rin.
"That was an amazing song. What was it?"
He looked at me and blinked, looking away he answered. "It's for my work."
"That's it? Not for us?"
He just shook his head, his eyelids still halway down.
I still had my arms wrapped around his neck and I had just noticed how much taller he had gotten since junior high. Suddenly, he picked me up. This time, I didn't struggle. He took us down to his kitchen. He placed me down on the kitchen counter, as he took out two sets of tea cups. He put them on elegant plates. One had a tea bag and the other had coffee. He pour hot water into both of them, mixing them with small tea spoons. He handed the tea to me as he sat down on a stool.
"Hey Sakura..."
"Yeah..." I took a sip of my tea. It tasted sweets and warming.
"I was thinking..."
"Of...?" I was starting to get annoyed.
"Well..."
"Oh come on, spit it out alread!"
"Okay!" He let out a deep sigh, "It's not that easy to say."
"So...?" I was so ready to rip his head off, if he didn't tell me soon.
He looked down into his coffee, "Well..."
"Go on."
"I have a boyfriend and he really wants to meet the band." His voice was slow and quiet.
"We already knew you had a boyfriend. It was soooo obvious."
His eyes widened, "Are you serious?!"
"It was for me anyway. You know you can't hide anything from me."
He smiled and nodded, "You're right."
That night went by as quickly as the next few months. June was already knocking on the door. We were less than a month away from our first live. We practiced three times harder than before.
Yuu had made awesome outfits so that we were unrecognizable. The masks had the band name sewn on them. They looked so awesome.
We were all studying for finals and getting ready for our live, so we were pretty much doomed during this whole month. Riku didn't seem to care so much about the finals but practiced harder than anyone for our live. Yuu was always ready to replace anyone during practice. He had taken my place at least ten times during practice and still kept up great scores on his finals. We all tried to work around it. Sadly, I was in a pinch.
Finally, school was over. I literally threw my books in the air, forgetting that I had to sell them. Oops. But I was so happy! Who can blame me for that? Thank God, Yuu wasn't there or else he would never let me hear the end of how an honor student, such as myself, could commit such a barbaric act.
We all met up at Yuu's house during our summer vacation until the live. Some of us couldn't even practice right. Today's practice was no different, but no matter what Yuu would never blow up on us, he just smiled and helped us out. I kept wondering why. Also today was a disaster. Rin lost her nerve as well as her conciousness when we began, so Yuu had to replace her, again. Ryuuhei was having rythmn troubles. I was no better than anyone who had made a mistake. I messed up on every other measure. Riku and Yuu were the better out of the whole band. It's truly amazing how neither of them were acting pissed with any of us, especially Yuu.
As days passed we weren't doing any better except when practicing on our own./ We tried our best and I tried to put an effort into putting it together. Although my effort was lost. Oh well, at least I tried.
