Format drive, reinstall OS (or install new one), solve problem?
It's what I did when my laptop started being an unbearable prick with load times and stuff. Can you access your files if you boot in safe mode? (Press F8 before the Windows loading appears - mash the key if you have to), if you can you could at least back up the useful stuff.
Thank you, Trick. ._.;; I did most of the first part, I'm thinking I need to do the second, but I have no idea how exactly to go about doing that.
Every time I try doing safe mode on it, it just runs through a list of commands, restarts, and brings me back to the same 'select mode' screen. And then I just go back to using the normal setting. I have most of my stuff saved on an external drive now, so that at least helps a bit.
Well, installing/re-installing an OS is fairly simple if you have a DVD of said OS nearby. It's generally a matter of insert disk, reboot, and then you'll get a prompt that says 'press any key to boot from CD' or whatever. And during the install you can just tell it to CLEANSE THE DRIVE WITH PURIFYING FLAMES format the C drive and install there once done formatting.
If Safe Mode ain't working, you really got a nasty bugger on your laptop. :(
