No suckage! I rather liked it. Very interesting look into Narcissa's thoughts. :D

I liked it a lot. I liked the idea of the power behind the throne, her sort of bloodless interest in power for its own sake, rather than any ideological beliefs. My only quibble is with the word 'tacky'. It jolted me a little because it didn't seem like a word she would use. Unfortunately, I can't think of a substitute.

I don't dislike tacky but, tawdry, vulgar...? :)

Yeah, vulgar is what I changed it to, though I'm thinking 'low' or 'uncouth' might be more... Narcissa-like. If anything is Narcissa-like, given how we know almost nothing about her. Sigh.

Yeah, I couldn't think of a substitute then either, but how about 'vulgar' or 'low' or 'uncouth'?

It's been awhile since I have read the books but it looks very nice. good motivation for her and characterization seemed good. I like her acting out of a purely selfish idea and not sugar coating it with any self lies-- that isa good trait in a villain that too few have. And this also explains why Lucius with his temper survived this long.

Yeah, I like to think *someone* in the Potterverse is self-aware. Even if it is Narcissa. *snerk*

And this also explains why Lucius with his temper survived this long.

Hee! Yes. He does seem to fly off the handle a little more than a smart politician should.

I rather like this idea, and this ruthless Narcissa. Not incapable of love, but still self-interested and into power for power's sake. Going to write more?

(Also, I really liked the U2 song you posted earlier - it describes the R/S dynamic really well and now I have this vision of Sirius, twenty and invincible, singing it to Remus in a seedy bar, and Remus, older and in mourning, tracing a copy of the lyrics with his hands...*fends off ravenging plotbunny*)

I doubt it. More would require plot and thought, and I just don't like her that much. *G*

Yeah, it is a good song for them. Shame about it being ten years too late for Sirius to have known it pre-Azkaban.

Damn JKR and her timelines! *G*

That was lovely. And inspiring. All kinds of bunnies popping up. I really enjoy a Narcissa when she's represented as more than just a trophy wife.

Yeah, that was part of what gave me the idea - that everyone *thinks* that's all she is, but she's really the power driving Lucius, that he's too much the spoiled aristo to be able to do well without making a mess, but she's been raised and trained to be a good politician's wife, and of course, we all know they do a lot of damage control.

And as much as I love the idea of Narcissa being in thrall to Bellatrix, I also liked the idea that she would *not* want her crazyass sister showing up and ruining all the hard work she's done to seem respectable.
