Aww. I can *so* see the Cordy/Sirius comparisons. Loved the 'hello, salty goodness' and the line about Willow's carpenter. (meep!)
Cordy, unlike Sirius, got to have some closure. She got to *say* goodbye, do some good, remind Angel that he does have a heart. Sirius's death was sudden and could've been prevented by so many tiny little things--if only Harry'd opened his package, if only Sirius had paid more attention to Kreacher's comings and goings, if only Snape had continued with the Occlumency lessons, if only someone (*cough* Dumbledore *cough*) had told Harry ahead of time *why* the lessons were important... Argh. Getting ticked thinking about it.

Thanks! Have to get my X/W on wherever I can.

That, and also, yes, everyone had to be an idiot for OotP to end the way it did. Which pisses me off.
Cordelia is gone because of outside, real world exigencies (pregnancy, disagreement with Joss, etc.). Rowling has no real world exigencies, as she has no actors to deal with, only characters, so there's no extra-textual reason for Sirius's death that makes it easier to bear, and there's no funeral, no body, no *nothing* to make the stupidity of it easier, to make it make any kind of sense. And maybe it's old-fashioned of me, but in fiction, I expect deaths to have meaning. Sirius's doesn't, really. Unless we're meant to take it as, "Be kind to house-elves, even the psychotic ones, or you end up dead."

I have no idea what happened in Angel for the past two years -- so frustrating. Nevertheless, I like the fic 'cause a Cordelia/Sirius friendship sounds so right. :)
Naturally Sirius would find heaven a bit dry. I love that. It looks as though Cordelia will keep him occupied until his other loved ones arrive. And I don't mean that suggestively. I can just envision them challenging each other, trading barbs. Yeah, the last line is hokey, but it doesn't detract from the fic at all. Very much enjoyed the subtle Xander/Willow. *sigh* If only.

I have thoughts on why Cordelia's death, while it makes me sniffly, doesn't make me *angry*, the way Sirius's death does.
I had the same reaction. (Well, probably not the same same...) I can accept Cordelia's death (and Tara's, and Anya's) even though it made me sniffly because a lot of good things happened to her (interspersed with bad), she was loved, she really came into her own, and she'll probably continue to be loved after her death (her continued defense of Doyle impies as much). A few really good things happened to Sirius, but mostly he suffered and suffered, he was denied redemption, and people censured him even after

Hee! Yes, that's exactly how I meant it - they'd so be the platonic power couple, snarking on everybody's bad fashion sense.
"Everybody's dead. This is *heaven*," Lily said. "Does it really matter if Obi-Wan's got a mullet?"
Cordelia sniffed. "We may be dead, but we're still pretty." (thanks, Joss)
Sirius: "As if there's ever *any* excuse for a mullet."

Whenever I discuss MWPP-era Sirius (and James), I come back to Cordelia as a good example (for BtVS/AtS fans), because they're so alike in the 'popular, mean, yet comes to the fight against evil without losing the snarky edge we love so much' kind of thing.

And the icon you made? Left me much with the trying not to let my coworkers see that I'm crying.

Eh, it's not really important. *g* Cordelia covers the highlights - possession by evil, coma, death.
Nevertheless, I like the fic 'cause a Cordelia/Sirius friendship sounds so right.
Thank you.

I thought so.
