the only marvel comic i read is hawkeye (i loved fraction and aja's run and just haven't taken it off my pull list) so i can't even express my sense of WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKING, MARVEL?? by not buying the new cap, but jesus christ, WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY THINKING? kirby and simon are spinning in their graves and the people who dismiss all this anger with a patronizing "it'll be retconned in a few issues, don't you know how comics work?" make me want to hit things. (there's a comic guy i follow on twitter who i generally like who genuinely doesn't seem to understand why people are upset, and i can't tell him i think he's being willfully blind.) i hope it is a stunning failure. altho if they did it for the publicity, they've sure as shit got it.

The only thing that makes even the tiniest bit of sense is that Red Skull is using Prof X's psi powers to warp both Steve's memories and his personality. All the flashbacks were tinted red which I think is a clue.

It was incredibly disrespectful and all I could think of was way to piss off the very fans you want to kep supporting your brand new movie. *shakes head*

UGH it's so gross. And yeah it'll turn out he's Red Skull but I 1000% do not care, this is still shitting on Cap and his creators and his fans, particularly Jewish fans, as clickbait. The reaction of my Jewish fandom friends has been really sad to see :(
