I'm going to guess Madam Secretary will have the hook of a woman in high office still being subject to sexism and misogyny? Or the office politics of the cabinet? It could be West Wing-ish, too, I guess. I don't really know much about it, tbh.

And State of Affairs (there's a long trailer as well)is mostly marketed as Katherine Heigl's return to television: she's playing a CIA agent who gets assigned to the White House to brief the president on the state of foreign threats. The president is Alfre Woodard (awesome!), but the trailer seemed really, really focused on Heigl's character's having a romantic relationship with the president's son - until he got killed overseas - and how badly she's dealing with it. Although it does have a lot of promise if they course-correct and change the focus somewhat after the pilot.
