only time will tell if we stand the test of time

So Scarlett Johansson is rumored to be 5 months pregnant. My first response was, that's lovely for her, but unless Chris Evans were the father, I am not interested. Why yes, I do ship them. *facepalm* But since this is reality and not the RPF wonderland in my head, I wish her well and don't have much interest otherwise ( Read more... )

bucky barnes has a robot arm, bucky bear, avengers assemble, this is captain america calling, chris evans' undeniable attractions, otp/shipping

I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT STEVE AND BUCKY AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE. IS IT APRIL YET?

*facepalm* It's entirely possible that a) I just bought myself a ticket for the 8 PM April 3 showing; and b) I just requested April 4 off work. Um. Yes.

I can't take both days, but the marathon not starting until 5:30 means I don't have to take even one! EVERYTHING IS WORKING OUT. NOW GIVE ME THE MOVIE.

Did I mention we're getting it a week early? I think I may have :p
(I really don't understand why though. It's an American film. Why is it being released in Europe first? *confused*).

Interesting comparison with The Iliad, that. Steve certainly has Achilles' good traits without being an insufferable, arrogant dick. (From my admittedly hazy memory of Homer, I might put a vote in for Steve being more like Hector, personality-wise. But that's probably because Hector is one of the few characters I actually liked in The Iliad).

Marvel's strategy has been to release all of the movies since Avengers a week earlier in Europe (and maybe they did with Thor and Cap:TFA but I wasn't paying attention then).

Steve certainly has Achilles' good traits without being an insufferable, arrogant dick.

Heh. Yes. I still do love Achilles anyway, though.

Bless this deluge of Steve/Bucky feelings. They are the perfect ship, at least in terms of everything I've ever wanted a ship to be.

The world needs some kind of epic reincarnation fic, where Steve is Achilles, many lifetimes better and wiser, and Bucky is his Patroclus, whom he loses over and over, until the one lifetime where he gets him back.

YES THIS PLZ. I am so not a writer, but I could make awesome art for this story, and would give it all the kudos. All of them.

There's a good chance that I will eventually take a stab at it. :D It'd just be such a feat in terms of planning! Like, would their lives in between be included -- should they be original character, or other famous queer-or-queer-able heroes? If they should be existing pairs, those need to be picked out, etc. :D

...okay, I need to steal my brother-in-law's DVD collection (I have seen Captain America and loved it, but I think that's all, because no money for films) because apparently I need to be in the MCU fandom.

Well, you probably only need to watch Captain America and Avengers for this particular outing, but the first and third Iron Man and both Thor movies are highly enjoyable. Skip Iron Man 2 - it's an awful, awful mess - and I still haven't seen either Hulk movie and have never felt the loss.

That is good to know--I was just told (with much eye-rolling) that we own Avengers. I know my BIL got some kind of massive box set of everything for Christmas, and I'm over there babysitting at least once a week (and the kidlet is nuts about Thor and Captain America, so he'll let me watch them, even if I do insist on English instead of French), so I may check out the rest. At least the two Iron Man movies that don't suck, and Thor.

I would recommend them! Mostly because they're a lot of fun.
