Yeah, so apparently I wrote 4100 words of Bucky Barnes/Stephanie Brown. I don't even know. Stupid formerly dead sidekicks.

Say Good Morning to the Night
Captain America (2011)/Batgirl (comic); Steph/Bucky; pg; 4,170 words
"If you're old news, doll, then I'm history."

Pre-reboot, obviously.

Title from "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" by Elton John.

turn around and say good morning to the night )

steph/bucky, fic: dcu, fic: xover, fic: captain america, hot xover pairings, stephanie brown, formerly dead sidekicks for the win, fic: avengers movieverse, bucky barnes

This is so good. Soooo good. And now I want more of them being awesome and together and angsty but still sweet and tough and scarred and learning how to navigate each other's respective families and teams (or not!teams as the case may be.)

Steph pretty much broke my heart here. Which is cool because I totally thought it'd be Bucky doing that.

Thank you so much! I'm so happy you enjoyed it! And yeah, I mostly expected it to be about Bucky's manpain, but Steph wasn't going to let that happen. I love the idea of them learning to deal with each other's families/teams, mostly because I enjoy the idea of the Bats being all scowly and Bucky being like, "Um. You're not actually that scary." Except for Cass, who could beat him up, and Jason, who might just shoot him if he's in the right mood. And Babs, who can screw him up long-distance. Okay, maybe they're a little scary. Hee.

Awww.

You write the sweetest stories. You really do. I like this Stephanie and this Bucky (even if I ship Bucky/Steve/Natasha for my OT3).

Thanks so much! Steve/Bucky/Natasha is my OT3, too, but sometimes a man needs waffles and a Batgirl, you know? *g*

Your Steph here is so perfect from her sense of joy in her work to her love of waffles to her little soliloquy about why she does what she does. They're interactions were lovely and I wonder if Bucky realizes he's basically with the female version of his BFF. The only thing this is missing for a real formerly dead sidekicks story is some hot Jason/Steph/Bucky action.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad Steph worked for you here - I was afraid she might be too on the nose, especially since, as you say, she's kind of a female version of Steve in this.

Ahahahaha. I would have to think really hard about how to make that work. Such hardship. Ahem.

Thank you! She knows Bucky really well, and is glad he's found someone who will enjoy breakfast foods at all hours with him! *g*
