Oh wow, I am usually not so alarmist, but wow, the change to the default site style LJ comment page is heinous. Thanks for the tip on customized comment pages. Because, oh my God, seriously. This is Facebook-level bullshit here. And LJaddons is borked for comments now too, of course. Gah.

Hee!

I'm glad to help. And yeah, I don't know what the hell this is, though I think "be more like Facebook" is the driving force.

To do that, you go to Customize Journal Style and click "no" on "Disable customized comment pages for your journal."

AH, good to know. I'm just going to steal that and post it on my LJ too, OK?

A work around can be found here:

stoppedhiding has got CSS code for custom comment pages that are like LJ's old defaults.

I don't love the journal style, but it is so nice to see familiar comment pages.

No, I just switched to comment pages in my style. I'm not ready to completely change the layout of my LJ, though it might come to that, I suppose.

Thanks for the tip.

Here's the link: http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml

it's under Journal > Journal Style > Customize theme (which is in a box on the top right of the page)

It already said "no" ... I changed it to "yes", then back to "no" again ... nothing happened, I still have the horrible new comment box ... I made some other changes at the same time, so I know they took.

Do you have an s2 style chosen? I think it needs to be s2 and it needs to be a paid account. I don't know what else to tell you. Sorry.

In a somewhat related note, how do you get that specific footer when crossposting from DW? I only seem to get the option that ends in 'comment with Open Id'...

It's under "other sites" here: http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/settings/?cat=othersites

There's a box that has the default text, which you can edit.

Thanks! I've been crossposting for ages, but I guess it's time to show some allegiance to DW.
