I've spent the day reading comics, so let's talk about that.

Batgirl
I broke down and decided to read the first two issues of the new Barbara Batgirl, and I didn't particularly like it. Not even because she's not Oracle anymore, but because it just felt off. Like, as Batgirl, she's all by herself, whereas when Steph and Cass were Batgirl, they had ( Read more... )

I share your concerns about Bruce and Damian. Damian has not only lost all the character development we saw under Dick, it seems he's gotten WORSE. I seriously can't deal with him acting like Damian's issues are solely Talia's fault when he's the one who took one look at that kid and bolted. I really wanted to see Bruce and Damian bond but not if it's going to be a running story of "how Damian is a monster and Saint Bruce fixes him."

And I'm with you, I LOVE the Jason we're seeing in Outlaws. I am really hopeful that moving him away from Gotham will give the character a chance to be established so it's harder for writers to come in after this and paint him as a one-note villain they want to use when they can't think of anyone else.

And on the one hand, with Alfred telling Bruce that he's a father, not a mechanic, it seems like the writer is aware that this is not the right way to do things, but then we have that last bit with Damian and the bat and Alfred seeing it, and ugh. I can't see that going anywhere good.

I hope so. I also hope that somehow they turn it around on Roy and Kory's characterization but so far I'm not optimistic about it.
