you and your high top sneakers and your sailor tattoos Avengers (movieverse); Steve/Darcy; adult; 5,870 words In which Darcy Lewis punches Captain America's v-card. Yeah, she can't believe it either.
This is utterly delightful. With such joy and playfulness but also the, ever present, sadness over Peggy and Bucky. It's a great illustration of why I like Steve so much, he's rare among superheroes in that he's actually a mature adult, when shitty things happen to him it saddens him but he copes with it and doesn't let his grief stop him from being a really nice bloke and good company.
Thank you so much! I'm so happy you enjoyed it. And yes, Steve's maturity and ability to cope are two of the things I like best about him. He's a decent guy and he doesn't let his own troubles get in the way of that.
"I can't imagine Agent Coulson going googly-eyed."
"Well, I was exaggerating for effect," she says, squeezing his hand for emphasis. Her fingertips are cool and damp from the condensation on the glass. "Basically, he had an expression. That doesn't happen very often."
Oh, man, this was AWESOME. I love Darcy so much, and I love the idea of her matter-of-factness meeting up with with Steve's idealism/decency. And your dialogue for her was pitch-perfect; I could hear it so clearly. (Steve's was awesome too, I just think he has less distinctive speech patterns. Or maybe it's just that I've seen Thor three times and CA only once. Hee.) Plus, unsurprisingly, the mid-coital baseball discussion made me REALLY happy. EEEEE THIS WAS GREAT.
Thank you so much! I'm so happy you enjoyed it! I thought they would be a really pair to spark against each other and see what happened, and they seem to go together really well. I'm so glad you thought it sounded like them. And of course they're going to discuss baseball! It could be no other way. *g*
