To use stuff on stanza to the ipod/ipad, you have to import it into stanza on your desktop/computer, then, while stanza is open on your computer, run stanza on your ipad and sync/download it that way. (this is part of why I no longer use stanza on my ipod, it's a damn pain.) **
If there is a better app for epub/pdf/mobi reading on ipad/ipod, I have yet to find it.
** To the best of my memory, it's been about 4+ months since I used it.
Something screwy with the file is my thought. I transfer all my books into Stanza via the StanzaDesktop program they have, since that's the only way to get them on there. Opening a file from an email attachment is good; will ask you what you'd like to view the file in, if it's an epub etc. You can transfer into iBooks via iTunes, but it only reads epub or pdf. Dropbox is REALLY handy.
There is no file manager app. Apple don't want you to keep single files on theiPad. They must have an app that thry get transferred into and stored in. In fact, Apple's trying to do away with files, mark my words. Dropbox would be the best solution I've found for this.
I might haVe to give Bookshelf a go (as per the above comment) since Stanza started annoying me a few months back.
I adore my iPad. It's my main device (I basically don't use a computer anymore).
