Yay for being recognized! None of my profs acknowledged the day today -- which I was mostly zen about, in part b/c we're having an end-of-teaching party tomorrow and so I will have delicious cakes which I tell myself are because I am Awesome.
Having a lot of demands on one's time/energy/attention is def. hard -- I'm jealous of my bosses who can arrange their schedules basically however they want while I have to be at the office 9-5 and have to find ways to build in time/space to do all the other stuff I want to be doing with my life.

So much this. I mean, a lot of my work I could conceivably do from home - the scheduling and meeting planning, the writing etc. - but then there's the actual being an assistant part, which requires being in the office to answer the phone, make copies, collate packets etc. They are pretty flexible here about scheduling, but the nature of the job limits the amount of flexibility it has.
