Oh my god, you guys, this day. this day. On the one hand, I should not have taken yesterday off - it would have made my morning a million times less fraught. On the other, everything worked out fine, and I still would have ended up in a meeting (second of the day) that was scheduled for 30 minutes but took two hours. All I lost was about 2.5 hours ( Read more... )

This is of particular interest to me as, over the past few weeks, I have been watching Homicide for the first time. At the time the series aired, work and play kept me too inundated to commit seriously to any show besides The X Files.

Watching it now, it's having the unexpected effect of making all other such dramas seem tame and badly-written. So the idea of a comic'verse making a comperable showing thrills me.

Isn't it spectacular? I mean the first five seasons are awesome. Seasons 6 and 7 much less so, but still with occasional bright spots.

And Gotham Central hits many of the same notes in good, resonant ways. I highly recommend it.

I've never enjoyed Daniel Baldwin in anything before!

I've loved Richard Belzer since Rolling Stone did a profile of him that I read when I was 12. It was during a phase where I was prone to odd celebrity crushes that baffled my girlfriends who all loved Scott Baio and David Lee Roth, etc.

Melissa Leo is perfect, as ever.

Dammit, I want to read Gotham Central! Except the library doesn't have all the trades!

Pity about the art. I haven't really seen the art, but I do like it when the art doesn't, you know, suck. I'm okay if it's ugly with a purpose. But if it's just poorly drawn, that's annoying.

I think the art is probably serviceable? I just have a hard time reading it sometimes.

And uh, if you let me know the parts you can't get your hands on, I can probably upload them. If you're okay with that.

Your subject line is about to inspire a front-to-back rewatch of HLotS.

(Related: How the hell do I not have any HLotS icons?)

I don't know! How do you not have any HLotS icons? You should remedy that at some point! My Frank icon is one of the first I ever had on LJ.

I want to do a rewatch. Maybe sometime in the spring. Sigh.

If it helps at all, that's not the end of Crispus Allen's story, either.

I saw on wikipedia that he ends up as the Spectre! Which is nicely ironic, considering his loss of faith.
