Bones

You know, I actually kind of like Hannah and Brennan's friendship. Actually, I would probably totally read Hannah/Temperance or Hannah/Booth/Temperance. ( spoiler? )

So with you about Bones. It's like the millionth season of Lost or the X Files already. NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE SECRET/DRAMA/ROMANCE ANYMORE. MOVE ON.

Exactly. There are so many more interesting stories they could have done about Booth and Brennan adjusting to being a couple and working together etc., but no, we get this nonsense instead. Bah.

Do they think people LIKE it? I do not understand.

They're still hung up on the Moonlighting fallacy, that the show will fail if the couple gets together. Why do people not realize that Moonlighting imploded for MANY OTHER REASONS that had NOTHING TO DO WITH Dave and Maddie getting together? Ugh.

Is Hannah Booth's girlfriend? If so, I don't like her much. It's not that I dislike her, she just always seems so self-consciously perfect so that she's likeable, you know? Like I remember the ep where she starts out saying she's not good with children, and Parker's apparently gotten threatened by her existence, and then they meet and naturally Hannah is amazing with him.

It just seems like she's there to make sure Brennan can't think of a reason to dislike her so she doesn't seem like a real person to me.

Yeah, she's Booth's girlfriend. I think I was primed to like her because I figured everyone else would hate her? Much as I loved Cam when she came on, because I was so worried they'd make her some sort of shrewish rival we were supposed to hate. She's a little too perfect? But I don't care enough for that to bother me.

I was on board for the UST and thought they did a good job stringing it out as long as they did, but at a certain point, you gotta fish or cut bait, and they have moved beyond that point.

See, I don't agree. She isn't perfect. She's a capable, intelligent woman- which is what Booth goes for. Hence his whole love for Brennan. I really enjoy the fact that she and Brennan have things in common, that Hannah is beautiful and funny and a good match for Booth. I just wish they hadn't introduced her so late in the game. Because of course we all know she has to leave or die, to fulfill the endless dicking around with B&B the writers seem to be incapable of resolving.

Right, but what I mean is that her not being perfect reads to me as just that. She has flaws because not having flaws would make her unlikable. But she reads to me like she's just designed to be likable at every turn. Which doesn't make me dislike the character--it works, she's likable. She just seems like a plot device to keep Booth and Brennan apart. He's found a girl that no one could object to because she's funny and smart and a good match for him. If she wasn't there'd be no conflict for Brennan--or there'd be a nastier one where Brennan was looking down on her as unworthy. I'm always far too aware of her as the perfect foil to really take her seriously as a person. I don't object to her, but I can't care about her.

I kind of feel like it's too late for Bones/Booth at this point. I also really like how they've handled Hannah and I like her and believe Booth loves her. So suddenly having him go back to loving Bones and pushing Hannah aside, not sure I'm going to like whatever they do -- especially if it ends up being another almost for B/B. I think they screwed up and now shouldn't do it.

Me, too, but you know they're going to keep trying yo-yoing on it, when they should have just butched up and gotten them together. Ugh. It makes me crazy, because I always think a show is FINALLY going to learn this lesson and not string things out too long, but they NEVER do.

It's like they learn the wrong lesson. Oh no "so-so-show put them together" and the fans were mad about how it happened... so we must string it out longer. When the fans felt they ruined the build up and chemistry by stringing them along too LONG on that other show. Sigh.

RE: Bones - idek what to think anymore, really. I like Hannah a lot as a character, and I too am glad that they didn't go the "shrewish bitter female rivals" path with her and Brennan. And while I don't really mind the storyline, I feel (as I do with SPN this season) that this is not quite the show that I signed on for.

I'm also pretty apprehensive as to what they're going to end up doing with this storyline. I assume that the end point of this series will be with Booth and Brennan getting together, and I hate the thought of the ridiculous machinations they're going to make up in order for that to happen. Will they go the sadly obvious way of killing Hannah off in some predictable "reporter in a war zone" situation? Or will she leave Booth because she loves her job more? Dun dun duuuun! SIGH.

Obvsly they need to end the series in a happy threesome.
