I heard (via the awesome NPR) that they are introducing McGarrett's sister because EVERYONE realizes what a horribly robotic character he is. They want to humanize him and so they brought in the really poorly introduced sister. Honestly, I'd enjoy the show about 80% more if they just lost McGarrett and kept the other three. Hee.

So true! Honestly, the sister is as annoying as he is! Does not humanize him! Just makes me think the whole family was awful!
