deep sea-anemone vowels

Oh, man, I totally crapped out last night at 10 pm. Slept almost all the way through the night, too - was up for a while at around 4 am, but managed to get back to sleep at some point. I had a terrible headache, which unfortunately has not gone completely away; it's just sort of migrated to behind/above my right eye. I'm choosing to blame the ( Read more... )

I think I've circled back around to the point in my fannish 'career' where I'm the only person interested in the stories I'm writing.

I don't think this is a bad place to be. I spent a year or two there where the only things I was really interested in were what I could make on my own. (I love you Ari). It can be a little strange and make you feel like you're working in a vacuum, but ultimately I think it's really rewarding because you get a chance to do everything you want without feeling like you're being influenced by outside factors (for better or worse).

Yeah, I'm getting used to it. And I'm amusing myself, which is the most important part.

>>If someone just told me, "here are the beats you should hit to make that plot work," I think could knock it out of the park. This is why, in the end, I always feel like a hack. <<

you and me both, man. i honestly think the only way i managed to finish my bigbang was because i had enough plot points i knew i had to hit, so i could just go from one to the next until i had a finished story. also, i think it was a fluke because normally i can't do that. usually i need someone else to give me the points. (and since i usually write original fic and don't even have a fandom to beg for assistance, that makes things REALLY DIFFICULT.)

also i know nothing of batman comics, but i do know dick grayson = robin, and the image of alfred solicitously trying to suggest a better class of porn and dick going OH MY GOD NO PLEASE SHUT UP YOU ARE HURTING MY BRAIN just cracks me up. possibly because in my head this means michael caine talking about porn in his posh english accent. hee.

*nod nod*

Exactly. When I know those, I can fill in the rest, but usually I'm just like,

Step 1: idea
Step 2: ???
Step 3: PROFIT FINISHED STORY

Needless to say, those stories don't get written, or they take forever for me to figure out the ???.

Exactly my point! And you know enough about the comics if you know Dick=Robin, imo. I mean, I don't know much more than that. *snerk*

Now I've got to pick up Under the Red Hood and check it out. Thanks for adding to my already overloaded TV time! :)

It's only 70 minutes long! And it has Neil Patrick Harris and Jensen Ackles in it!

NPH broke my brain in the Harold & Kumar movies. I had absolutely no intention of ever watching those movies, until I was channel surfing one night and came across NPH tripping on shrooms and chasing imaginary unicorns.

I still haven't seen them, but I've heard he's awesome in them. In Under the Red Hood, he doesn't have a lot of screentime, but he makes good use of what he's got. *g*

I just wanted to say that I am loving your Dick/Jason stories! Especially since it's so hard to find any. You're like my dealer now so I will continue to love reading anything you write (including your Max/Alec fic, as well)!

Thank you so much! It *is* hard to find stories about them! Especially if, like me, you don't want Bruce or Tim involved in any of the sex.
