the openings and closings

Last night I was in bed by 11:45, but I had a hard time falling asleep. I took a Benadryl and started thinking about various stories I want to write (and some stories I will never write, but which entertain me in those in-between moments), and realized I had some verbiage I didn't want to forget. There must have been something in the air last night, because I turned the light back on at 12:45 and wrote out the first half of a new story in a new fandom. And then I think I might have finished it on the subway this morning. Crazy!

When Herod sat down at the dinner table, the roasted
bird flew from the platter crying, "Christ lives! He is alive!"
It's spring, even at night.

This is beautiful. Thank you.

(It also gave me what I needed to come up with a wrap for the reflection I'm giving at church tonight, so I am particularly grateful.)
