it's something that i'm supposed to be

Things I have done today:
  • made nutella cupcakes
    • can I just say that I find cupcakes intimidating? You can only fill them 3/4 of the way or they overflow! They have to be carefully removed from the muffin tin rather than just turned out like a cake! And this batter was kind of sticky and not pourable, so I had to spoon it into the cups. And then ( Read more... )

to do list, adventures in cooking, tv: general, my life so hard

Why don't you use those little paper cups they sell for muffin/cupcake pans? I use them and they ROCK.

I do, but I guess I misjudged 3/4 full, because they rose over the top and spread out and are not easy to get out of the tin. Sigh.

I like cupcakes, because people don't think I'm as crazy for not frosting them. The frosting is my least favorite cake part.

Being Human! It is so good and I love it! You can download and write at the same time!

These cupcakes FROST THEMSELVES!

And it depends on the frosting. I don't really like buttercream, but cream cheese frosting? or whipped cream? Or plasticky store-bought? LOVE IT.

I'm downloading at any rate. Writing...not so much. Sigh.

That recipe looks delicious, not as dense as the nutella cake I've made before. I usually make cupcakes in the little paper cases which removes the problem of sticking to the tin, or lining it with squares of greaseproof paper works pretty well.

I think I have that cake recipe bookmarked, but I don't have time to grind hazelnuts or buy Frangelico. *g*

I did line the cups with the little paper things, but because I guess I overfilled them, the tops spread out and mingled together, making them difficult to get out of the pan without finagling.

Hee! I didn't bother with Frangelico and crushing the hazelnuts with a rolling pin was enormously theraputic (they'd run out of already crushed ones in the supermarket). The end result is definitely worth it - but more of a tiny slice at a party thing than an everyday cake.

*nod*

It looks more like the kind of thing I'd bring to someone's house than keep for myself.

You're going to be sorry you asked! I always think I'm over my bitterness with Gilmore Girls, and then it all comes roaring back!

I feel that in the season 4 finale, when they had Rory sleep with married!Dean, they totally ruined her character - after that I liked her a lot less (and made me really kind of hate Dean, to whom I'd always been mostly indifferent) - which damaged her relationship with Lorelai. I mostly watched the show for Lorelai and Luke, so season 5 was okay, even with the stupid random separation, but then we had the April reveal and pod!Luke in season 6, and then Lorelai broke up with him and slept with Christopher and ugh. *stabs* I didn't watch season 7 at all.

Gilmore Girls was my comfort show for so long - I laughed, I cried, I was happy - and then it turned into a big huge mess that left me hating everybody involved.

So, I choose to believe it ended when Luke and Lorelai kissed for the first time.

Lol trust me I have felt that way about....certain shows :/

My knowledge of Gilmore Girls is pretty much limited to future-Sam-Winchester being named Dean, but a lot of people seemed to stop liking the show after S4. Your reasons are understandable! I didn't even know that Lorelai had broken up with Luke (even if it was TEMPORARY), and I always liked them together, so double :(

Yeah, there were a lot of unpalatable shenanigans, and since they'd pretty much gutted what I watched the show for, I stopped watching. I did watch the finale, and there is the implication that Luke and Lorelai are working their way back to each other, but meh. There was a lot of DO NOT WANT involved beforehand.

Those cupcakes look amazing. I think I have to make them for National Cupcake Day, which is apparently this Tuesday.

They're a little sweet for me, but they're good. Especially if you like nutella.
