and everyone we're with will be embarrassed

I posted a story last night, for luzdeestrellas's birthday:

Life on Mars
Supernatural; Sam and Dean; pg; 4,785 words
Sam finds that without hunting, without television, the internet, or saving the world, he's got a lot of time on his hands.

I almost gave it the summary, Domesticity, Winchester-style, take two, because that is basically what it is. It's not ( Read more... )

Right. She wouldn't bring him along because things always go sideways when he's around! But then she'd be alone on a job and things would go wrong and she'd realize that even it stuff goes wrong when he's there, together they can pull out of it more easily, so she starts asking him again! And Logan disapproves, but he thinks they're dating.

You should totally write that!

I started watching because I was looking for a new fandom and seperis cajoled me into it.

That, right there, pretty much encapsulates why I got into Queer As Folk.

Ahahaha, and the iPod just started playing "Foundations," by Kate Nash, which definitely has some Max/Alec overtones.

Ooh, now I want to know what you'd put on a Max/Alec mixtape.

You know, I don't really have one. "Flesh Mechanic" is definitely my Alec (Max/Alec) song, and "Point of No Return" is a Max song, and maybe "Shameless" would be on there, and obviously, the first verse of "Foundations" does sound like them:

Thursday night, everything's fine,
Except you've got that look in your eyes,
when I'm telling a story and you find it boring
you're thinking of something to say.
You'll go along with and then drop it
And humiliate me, in front of our friends.
Then I'll use that voice that you find annoying
And say something like, "yeah, intelligent input darling,
why don't you just have another beer then?"
Then you'll call me a bitch and everyone we're with
will be embarrassed,
and I won't give a shit.

Though the rest of the song doesn't really fit. But I haven't really been hit by anything that says, "Max/Alec" to me. Weird, because usually I am all about relating songs to OTPs.

Yeah, I've got a Dark Angel playlist, with most of Poe's Haunted album on there, but it's largely kind of worldbuilding songs, not a lot of shippy music. I'm not sure why it's so hard to find pairing music for this fandom, except maybe my usual tastes don't include much of the right kind of stuff. Maybe.

Yeah, I don't know either. It's weird, because I really do ship them, and if I could come up with Firefly playlists, this shouldn't be too hard. But I mostly listen to "Flesh Mechanic" a lot and think about Alec and Max racing their bikes.

This is pretty exactly how I see Max/Alec. And Logan, ptui.

Kripke reputedly monitors the internet and responds to fans likes and dislikes, even if he often writes what they wish would happen in a completely twisted and unexpected way. So what I'm thinking would definitely be a risk. Do you think if we like-minded folk got a petition together to ask for a gentle retirement for Sam & Dean, with a home base and a home life, and the mandate to continue saving people, hunting those proportionately small, when compared with the apocalypse, things that go bump in the night, that he would back off the Butch & Sundance ending for the series?

I think it's a bad idea, personally? I would like Kripke to just tell his story and stop worrying about what his fans think. I mean, I love a little bit of fanservice as much as the next fangirl, but I don't think fans should be driving the narrative. I think he knows people don't want a Butch and Sundance ending, but I also think he thinks that's cool, and you never know when he might turn around and be all, "I gave you what you wanted... in the absolute worst way possible! Ahahahahaha!" like Joss used to.
