I was going to rant here about how it's okay for the people looking to hire you to jerk you around by not confirming the interview times they set up and not responding to your emails or phone calls on the subject, while you as the job hunter can't make even a tiny mistake or it costs you, but I am so irritated that I won't ( Read more... )

Drabble pyramids are hard, for serious. Happy-making when you can do it, but there's a reason I don't do them often.

Anything else is not a drabble.

Yeah, it was hard. I enjoyed it, and it was rewarding, but it was a serious challenge.

This is one the things US sports has over the UK/Europe variants, there's kind of an expectation to be awesome off field too. Only yer man Graves sounds super-awesome.

Yeah, I mean, I have a lot of thoughts about whether we should make our athletes role models and what kinds of expectations we put on them, but in this particular case, he really is an awesome man, not just because he was a fantastic athlete and teammate, but because of all the things he does in the community.

It's a real challenge but when it works, it's really rewarding. I hope it's as interesting to the people reading as it was for me writing. Heh.

If only everybody on LJ thought so!

Seriously.

Actually, not only *can* you complain about that sort of hiring party, but I generally think of it as a bad sign of things to come. If they make up for it in the interview, I'll be wary, but they get a pass. But certain behaviors are unforgiveable, as it only gets worse when you're permanently there.

I admit, my impression of HR people at this time has not been the greatest, and this one in particular seems extra flaky. They want me to come in for a second interview, hopefully with the person I'd actually be working for rather than HR again, though again, they are being unhelpful with confirming a time. I suppose we'll see what happens. Sigh.
