"I wasn't ready then. But I am now."

Written for jule1122, who requested a Dan/Casey reunion, in inlovewithnight's Catchallathon. Thanks to luzdeestrellas for looking it over and making it a better story. All errors are mine.

I think my face just permanently froze in a smile, actually. And that's a good thing.

Perfect.

I'm not a huge Dan/Casey fan, but this is lovely. Very Danny and just the right amount of Casey to make it perfect.

thank you! It's not my pairing either, but it was fun to take it for a test drive.

their voices. You have all of their voices so exactly right, I squealed with the joy of it.

and oh, my boys. I miss them so. This future for them feels so real - hurty and hopeful and them.

OMG, this is beautiful. I love Dan's sad but successful existence, the awareness that he's moved on even though everyone else he left is still the same. I love how Dan puts the situation in Casey's hands, and Casey knows that the whole time, knows its up to him to get Dan to come back to him, to the city. I love that their kiss is also when we learn what is behind why Dan left, and how the thing that broke them apart also becomes the resolution. I loved this so much.

Thank you so much! I'm so happy you liked it. And yeah, Dan's not doing badly or anything, but it's not a real joyful existence, even with the dog, so it's good that he can finally come home, even if it's not exactly the same as when he left - better that it isn't really, even before Casey fixes things.
