sparkle someone else's eyes

I just wrote the opening sentence of my new! hopefully workable! spn_summergen idea, and was struck once again by how weird writing is. How you start out with nothing but a cool idea in your head, and (if you're lucky) you end up with a story you can share with other people ( Read more... )

The story turned out great and I recced it. Loved when Kara told them she's never played poker. ROFL!

Thank you! And yeah, I love the idea of Kara totally playing them about cards.

I am greatly looking forward to reading your Kara/Dean story but, sadly, I have not finished watching the last two episodes of BSG yet (I know, I know!) and have imposed a "no fic until you finish" rule on myself.

That was so not where I thought this post was going when I opened the update window.
But it was interesting none the less.

I'm glad you thought it was interesting. I think the story works better if you've seen the season 4 midseason finale, but I don't think it's necessary, per se.

That's generally how I write - every time I open a story up, I reread it, and add things into what's already there (or move things around, or very rarely, cut things out .... I am the kind of writer whose betas are mostly saying, "You have to add this in and flesh that out." So cutting doesn't happen a lot for me.) before I start writing new stuff.

MEEEE TOOOO.

Sometimes I wonder what that says about us, other than we write sparsely.

I just want you to know that I am **dying** to read this story.

For some reason, whenever I saw you refer to your Dean/Kara piece, I was thinking it was a "Smallville" crossover, and I don't follow that show, so I was totally thrilled to discover you were actually talking about Starbuck EXCEPT I have yet to see a single second of season 4 (no cable) and I have a serious Media Black Out policy on spoilers for BSG (my better half doesn't and she had to go the whole sixty million months before we could watch season 3 on dvd without being able to squee to me about who turned out to be a Cylon.)

We're hopefully getting together with a friend with TiVo for a marathon in the next few weeks and I'm really looking forward to then having this to read...it will help make the wait for the rest of the season SO much easier! (and happy birthday!)

Huh. There's a Kara on Smallville? I stopped watching sometime in season 3 and never looked back. Oh wait, is that Supergirl?

Anyway. Yeah, I called her Kara through the story 'cause that's how she introduces herself to Dean. And season four has some fantastic episodes in it. I was glad to go into it unspoiled, so that's all I say. *g*

And thanks for the birthday wishes.
