Yeah, in thinking about it, it's probably a sibling. Like Gordon. It all has to mirror Sam and Dean (and how Sam couldn't kill John when it would have solved everything, because Dean begged him not to, and Dean won't be able to pull the trigger on Sam if if comes to that).
