fic: The Girl Who Says Remember (Firefly/Friday Night Lights; Mal/Tyra)

The Girl Who Says Remember
Firefly/Friday Night Lights; Mal/Tyra; adult; 1,715 words
Tyra had been a towheaded little tagalong with a sassy mouth and a nose for trouble. Given the circumstances, it looked like that much hadn't changed.

All luzdeestrellas's fault, as things usually are these days.

this was really good. the universes blend nicely, which should be less surprising than i found it. oh, crossovers, the interesting character things you allow. i can't believe there are people who, as a rule, won't read crossovers.

Thanks so much! I'm so glad it worked for you because yeah, it's not an intuitive crossover.

NICE.

Somehow, Tyra just fits into the Fireflyverse, brown coat and sassy mouth and all. And the thought of Jason losing his legs fighting...

I loved it. :)

Thanks so much! She totally fits in, way better than I'd expected even.

Oh, god. I am dead. They are so hot together, and she fits so perfectly in this verse -- with that mouth and that personality; it's completely believable that she'd fight first time and then do the same again, because however cynical she is, she can't quite stop hoping. And I love that so much changed, but the other kids are still recognisable as the same people, even from the little she says about them.

Obviously I love Mal, especially at the end, and how River always knows better than he does.

This:

She tasted of whiskey and heat, and memories of sunny days full of dust and hope, the dim light of the hayloft and the sweet smell of new cut grass. Of a home long gone and irretrievable.

And this:

She kissed like she was firing a gun, quick, efficient, and deadly--she
knew what she was about and wasn't shy about showing it.

so awesome. Really, I take full responsibility. *g*
