You won't ask and I won't say but in my heart I'm always somewhere with you

[It's his birthday, yeah, but Lavi hasn't done anything for it.

He's too paranoid to be around anyone.

So he avoided the party. Avoided everyone he saw.

And hid away in the cherry tree courtyard that Allen showed him.

It was nice, still in full bloom. Quiet and out of the way like the entire wing.

Not a soul to bother him while he practiced

[He went looking for Lavi after talking with Bike. Both to wish him happy birthday and to see if he was doing any better. It's not easy to look through an entire Dressing Room for someone while you're still injured and recovering. Thankfully he didn't reopen or tear anything.

Kanda doesn't approach. He just leans (quite heavily) against a tree in the courtyard, watching Lavi from a distance. He's fine with this.]

[He would hit you if he knew that. B| You're not supposed to be out of bed after dying anyway.

Lavi is...relatively fine. So long as he isn't around anyone else. Anyone he's unsure of. But right now he's so lost in his fencing that he doesn't notice Kanda's presence. His form is rough after months of being locked in his head but it still is elegant in some ways. Memory and body remembering the forms even if the body is a bit shaky with performing them. He fights against his invisible opponent as if there is actually one there.]

[He hasn't rested much, to be honest, since he collapsed after waking up. Blacked out for about twelve hours, sure, but hasn't really rested after. Still busy, still walking all over. Checking on others, a little more paranoid now after seeing both Joyd's and Tyki's dead bodies. Unfortunately for Kanda it's starting to catch up to him.

And as he stands there watching, he wishes that he were well enough to help Lavi practice. Fencing was different than kenjutsu, but he's still seen and watched enough of it in order to put up a decent fight. It'd probably help, especially when one doesn't have to guess an opponent's next moves like when practicing by yourself.

He'll still be there whenever Lavi decides he's done/needs a break. He just won't be standing anymore, rather sitting and leaning against the tree instead.]

[Lavi would try to do more to make sure Kanda rested if he knew but at the same time he'd...try not to. Afraid that Joyd's feelings for the swordsman are working through him, that the way he wants to help Kanda, to be there for him, are the Memory. And he doesn't want that influence. Yes, Kanda is nice to him and he wants to repay that but that's as far as it goes for Lavi. He has a lot of mistrust of people now, of his own feelings. Even for those of his own world he would suddenly be much more reserved toward them. Worried and fretting that what he feels for them isn't him but Joyd. But Kanda, this one, he knows Joyd cares for and it makes him hesitant on how to proceed ( ... )

[Who knows when Allen will really have the free time to drop by - it might not be a few hours until sunrise, obviously a bit late into the night. And if Lavi isn't there, that'd be totally understandable. He'll leave a cupcake on that bench from the other day, though, with a little note that says "Happy Birthday!" On it.]

[By that time perhaps he's long since put up his fencing blade, instead just sitting with his arms around his legs. He rarely leaves this courtyard you know, now that he's found it. It's a safe haven for him in so many ways. And with Allen's vampire ways he can neatly sneak up on the other, cherry blossoms won't give his clothes away like the snow.]

[He isn't trying to sneak up on him, really - though he can't really help it, either. Still, he hesitates a bit as he wanders over, staring at the base of one of the cherry trees.

...He hates courtyards like this, honestly. They always remind him of those two weeks that Sleeper was dead. ...they were a terrible few weeks, really.

But he lifts a hand to wave after that, making himself just a bit more obvious.] Ah.... hey.

[Lavi lifts his head at the sound of Allen's voice, "flee" so deeply ingrained already that he's already starting to get up to his feet to do just that. But then he sees it's Allen and relaxes a little.]

Hey... [And he's awkwardly looking down at his boots.]
