It's a mix of the movie and video game canon. Set sometime after the fourth game and after Afterlife. Leon was sent to get and protect Ashley (again). They're currently on their way to a bunker in Michigan & are passing through Detroit where Jill Valentine and a group of survivors are.
I'd love to see an Ash for him though!
