I'm completely in love with the way you write Brian and Justin, capturing them perfectly in both their strength and their vulnerability. Aged-up Justin is more confident and more certain of himself, but he still needs Brian in order to complete his life. And Brian -- he's never going to be over Justin, ever. Not even with a kid gumming up the works.
Loved the part with Debbie, too. God, she frustrates me, always certain that it's Brian who is going to hurt Justin, even at this late hour. But that's Debbie and you capture her cannon-self perfectly with both her good and annoying attributes. And of course, Brian understands and forgives.
My favorite line: "Everything else but he and Justin and the love that they share can all be chalked up to time-boyfriends, tricks, kids, all of it. And here they stand."Already 2K words into the next installment? ( ... )

Deb definitely means well, but sometimes misses the mark. I think that, while she loves Brian, she understands that he's caused a lot of hurt. Sometimes that makes it difficult to side with him. Plus, I'm convinced that she'll always see Justin is that seventeen year old that showed up at the diner with Michael.
