Harry Potter : A Rereading

Mar 01, 2010 11:27

Well I had made it a goal to reread the entire Harry Potter series this year, and I just finished up Deathly Hallows last Friday. It took me around six or seven weeks to finish off the series, and there were some days when I would do nothing but read. Honestly, I found myself getting sucked in and couldn't stop.

So I thought I might recap some of ( Read more... )

I thought I would check out who the lily/james fest moderators were, and felt compelled to reply to your entry! I hope you don't mind a stalker :)

+ I totally agree about Umbridge. I think she's so sinister because she isn't a supernatural terror like Voldemort, or a corrupted soul like Quirrell; she's just a twisted person. She might be the most frightening villain in the whole series.

+ I love Kreacher! My favorite scene of his is when he worries that Harry doesn't like the stew he made, and as soon as Harry leaves the room he whips out a dish he knows Harry likes. <3

+ I was so disappointed with JKR when Harry/Ginny became canon. There really was no development in the relationship--it just suddenly appears as in bad fanfic.

+ I AM SO GLAD TO FIND SOMEONE ELSE WHO HATES REMUS/TONKS. They have no chemistry, no development, completely clashing personalities, and no reason at all to be together. A nightmare pairing. :(

Yes, I think you really hit the nail on the head with that statement. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks this way. I was really worried I might be when I posted this.

I've always liked the idea of Harry/Ginny, but I definitely wish that they had more development. It seems to me that Ron/Hermione gets the most out of the series. I can understand Harry not being concerned with his love life while he has Voldemort after him, but I wish she could have put in something more substantial. Honestly, I liked how the Half Blood Prince movie handled Harry/Ginny. I feel like it added what had been lacking.
