TAC Meet & Greet

Mar 04, 2012 20:14

So this was my little idea to get to know you all a little better, especially those of you who are regular readers. I'm the sort of person who likes being able to identify people, especially in my fandoms, and learn a little more about everyone. I blame my couple years of moderating fanfic fest communities for this habit, lol. There's a lot of one- ( Read more... )

Feel free to drop me a question as a reply to this comment! As I said, personal or TAC-related is fine. :)

hi! i was just wondering how many chapters three's a crowd will be? I think I'm gonna wait til it's done to read...I'm reading waaay too many WIPs right now!

Who''s your fav character to write for/about...who's voice comes the most easily for you?

Hey, hon! I'm still fighting with my outline at the moment, but I'd guess somewhere around 20 or 25 chapters in total. I'm trying to cut down the chapter content so that there aren't these really long chapters, so that just means there'll be more of them at the end. I hope to have an actual answer to that question soon, though. :)

Brian's voice comes most easily without a doubt. It took me a bit to figure it out, but now that I'm really comfortable with him, I tend to default to him whenever I start a new fic. To be honest, Justin, or at least a mature Justin from S3-5, is actually very hard for me. Baby!Justin from S1 is a favorite of mine to write as well, though. It's a lot easier to figure out his speech mannerisms and behaviors for some reason.

Very artistic...play piano and guitar, into theatre, and a writer (been published). I have been only writing QAF for a few months, but I wrote anime years ago and have been writing Harry Potter for a while.

Hello, Samantha! It's a pleasure to meet you!

We actually got into writing fanfic the same way. :) I did a lot of really terrible anime fic when I was in middle school, took a break for awhile, and then started into HP. And wow, you must have an incredible artistic side. I'm really musically challenged, lol. And we won't discuss theater because...yeah, not a strong point of mine either. I really envy people who are so skilled in so many of the arts.

So you're a late comer to the series too! There's so many of us; it's really surprising. I'm glad I'm not alone though. I found the series just a few months ago in summer/autumn.

I don't think I'm familiar with JulesMonster's work, so I'll definitely check that out. As for Predec2, well, who hasn't heard of her around these parts? Haha! But, the link you gave me to her FF.net account will come in handy. I haven't had a chance to catch up with a lot of her work, so thank you!

Oh gosh, so much to comment about! But first, it's nice to meet you, Amanda!

I wish I'd been able to follow this series from when it first aired. I was only 13 at the time, so that wasn't going to happen obviously. But it would have been incredible to experience this whole series as it's happened. How was it for you? The season finale cliffhangers must have been torture!

Landscape architect? That's not something you hear about people everyday. You must have a great artistic eye then. Sadly, I struggle to put together an outfit that doesn't clash, so I'm afraid landscaping wouldn't be for me, lol! What's your favorite part of your job?

I don't think I've had the pleasure of reading either one of those fics, but now--especially after reading the summaries--I'm really going to have to do it soon. They sound great! I know both conzieu and galeandrandy by name, but I'm not overly familiar with their work yet. This is going to be fun! Thank you for the recs, A!

I vaguely remember checking the Showcase website every so often hoping there was news on when the season premieres would be...agonizingly long!
and I WISH I had thought to be in fandom when the show was airing because I was totally in Toronto when I bet they were filming some of those coldest looking scenes from S3.
It's funny, I was trying to remember when I discovered my little sister was watching QaF too (she's almost 5 yrs younger)...musta been S4&5...so she would have already been in university then, although it coulda even been the summer before. huh.

The fav part of my job...there's lots that I love...from seeing a finished plan rendered/coloured to seeing the park/landscape actually built from one of my designs! it's crazy. going on field trips and site visits is great too...going to provincial parks and envisioning where a new campground and trail could go.

artistic eye yup...my undergrad was in art ( ... )

Oh an undergrad in art! Do you still do some art as well? Or do you mainly concentrate your efforts on landscape design? Do you draw your own landscape designs?

I approve of any and all big giant rec lists! Yes, you should do this and do it soon, lol! I'm running low on fic resources at the moment, but this post has definitely been incredibly helpful. I'm not sure I've caught later2nite's work, but I'm familiar with the name, of course. :) And Valediction! Dear god, that fic slaughters me over and over again. I've mainly just skimmed the body of that fic because I don't like death!fic too much, but I read the final chapter word for word and it's probably one of the most stunning fics I've ever had the privilege to read.

You can call me Hillary or H! Most of my friends around here do. Or if you just like sticking to pennames, Muse is just fine. :) I'll definitely add you, hon!

Hello, Dalia! Nice to meet you. :)

Oh, you've given me so many authors to check out! That's great, especially since there are a few there that I've never heard of. I'm always looking for new (/new to me) fic writers. Thanks so much!

I'm a new comer to QAF fandom as well. I found it accidentally in the summer of 2011, so really I've not been invested in this fandom for a full year yet. It's crazy, haha! I love it so much. You really can't look back from it, you're right!

I've met so many artists today! I don't have an artistic bone in my body, and I really admire you folks who can draw. I'm also a huge reader! What's your favorite genre?

Writing--like drawing--just takes a lot of practice, that's all. Having a good beta helps a lot too, especially one who isn't afraid to criticize in a constructive way. Anyone can write, though! I promise. You should give it a try. :)

But I like everything by Kachelofen, scoobygang8, sakesushimaki, I love Kiss Me Alright by CleverDevil, Myrna, Allie_Quixotic, lastglances, soundczech, suzvoy, methyethyl, maybe you better check out my memories or this will go on for ever.
When did you get into QAF fandom?: December 2010
Tell me something interesting about yourself!: I'm from Germany, I am an avid reader but can't write at all. Many years ago I lived in Chicago for sixth months doing an internship and after that I travelled the States for another month. It was great. I even considered staying, but I already knew my husband back then. Today I'm glad I didn't leave. ;) As a Sagittarius I suffer constant wanderlust. Guess, the internet helps. Oh, and I love Bollywood. :D

Kiss Me Alright is one of my very favorite QAF fics! I actually just read it a couple months ago at a friend's recommendation. I was amazed by the characterization and the way that characterization was reflected in the writing choices. Really, I could go on about it for ages, lol! I'll definitely be sure to check out your memories! I never really thought about looking at my friends' memories for fic lists before, so I'm going to have to try that out. :)

I think I may have mentioned this before, but I have several friends in Germany that I met through QAF. It seems like most of the people I've gotten to know are from Europe, which is the opposite of what I expected.

I'm an avid reader as well! What sort of books do you like? I'm into historical fiction and contemporary fiction. I understand the wanderlust; I'm a Sagittarius as well. :) I love to travel, but I really like coming home at the end, hahaha.
