Turn That Frown Upside Down

Mar 07, 2006 22:07

I've been a PMS Queen "B" for almost a week now. I've been overemotional about everything! I even cried tonight, because I had to go Grocery Shopping!!! I decided that since I was in a foul mood, I would go to my favorite Korean Grocery Store and see if that could shake a good mood out of me. It worked!!! That store is better than therapy and happy ( Read more... )

grocery shopping depresses me too.. don't know if it's the lights, the huge size, the overwhelming choices, the lack of "healthy", or the treck to the back of the store to get the one thing needed.

I'd like to live like the "city" folk in NY and those in Europe do. On their way home (walking) they stop in the corner store and pick up what they need for that day.. no schleping (sp) bags and bags from store to car to kitchen. Just get what you need for the dinner and be done with it!

"The Lights"..."The Huge Size"..."Overwhelming Choices"..."Lack of Healthy Food"...Yup...you just named some of the main reasons why BIG grocery stores freak me out!!!!

I've searched long and hard, to find places to shop that make me smile and enjoy myself! I have the most Fun in Asian or East Indian gorcery stores...especially the smaller ones, where they get to know your name and have long coversations with you while they're ringing up the order! :-)

I still have to make weekly trips into "hell zones"...ie... regular supermarkets...Conner likes eating American junkfood and I like their supersales. (I have a savings card for every grocery store within a 10 mile radius!)

unfortunately, here in San Antonio we only have 2 (well 3) choices of grocery stores (big chain).. HEB and Walmart (with super Target being the third). HEB is a local one that went huge and doesn't offer any coupons ... but plenty of specials on the meat all the time!

I don't go in Walmart.. and Super Target is too far away. I know of one Asian store.. but it's small.. two isles and one refrigerator.. every time I walk in the owner watches me and will question me about what I'm getting.. I feel inferior in there!

there's probably more choices closer to town.. but I'm out in the 'burbs.

That really surprises me...that in San Antonio, the shopping choices would be so limited ( ... )

Then go out and buy some of those Royal Jelly-Ginseng vials! (made by Royal King- red box...) They're Amazing!!! :-)

I have not read the Ya Ya's yet...this was her first book that I read. I'm looking forward to reading more! She is such a fabulous writer and her sense of humor and oddball way of looking at life and family relating is extremely beautiful and heart warming!
