I thought the 80's were coming back, not the 70's

For my friends who don't live in the Southeast, here's a photo I took this morning when Husband and I were walking up to brunch. It's of a line of cars waiting to fill up on gas (notice how it circles around the block - the line on the right eventually reaches the pumps). A friend of mine waited TWO HOURS in line the other day. How crazy is this?

We should HOPE the 1970s are coming back -- instead of the 1930s, which seem comparably likely.

If we average the 30's and the 70's, maybe we'll actually get the 1950's...

For one we now have Welfare systems in place so people won't starve or be homeless.
Also about 60% of the working class would have to suddenly become unemployed.
There will not be a repeat of the Great Depression. It just won't happen. To many resources.

The '30s had better music. And movies. And maybe even clothes; it's not easy to rock the Dorothea Lange look, but compared to polyester bell bottoms ...

and last night at 11:30 pm we went down 92 to see if the QT had gas and it did. The line was backed up to Mansell.

Unbelievable.

Gives me a good excuse to go nowhere and do nothing right now...

I was slick. I saw the gas lines in the afternoon, and decided fuck it, I was going to go in the middle of the night. I didn't have to be anywhere until 11 this morning.

At 1:45 a.m., there weren't any lines at the QT at North DeKalb Mall. There was gas, 87 octane only. There were two or three open pumps out of 20, but at least no lines down the street.

Both the husband and I have been awake lately until the wee hours for various reasons, so we'll have to try that strategy.

Whoa, why is that happening there? That's not happening here at all.... as a matter a fact gas is down almost $1.00 since the summer.
I remember when that went down in the 70's... that was crazy!

It's just the Southeast - apparently the hurricanes knocked out some of the refineries which provide fuel to the Southeast. It's all crazy...

I get up @ 4:30 am, and any where from 5-5:30 there is no great line at Quik Trip, here in Gwinnett.
*reminds self to buy stock in QT*
