Well hello there

Jul 15, 2008 22:38

For the last few months I've been composing posts in my head, and then not getting around to actually posting them. And then I felt that that too much had happened since my last post, and I'd never be able to catch up. So now I present a quick Top Ten Rundown of What's Been Happening in Muse's Life Since She Last Posted Three Months Ago:

Friends?=liberal Quakers or just plain Quakers. Friends known as liberal Quakers are peace pushers bordering Buddhism which is why I am the way I am. Plain Quakers eventually seems to go poorly. Just another organized religion with a different name. Yet-liberal Quakers are not-which is why it is all odd.

Definitely liberal Quakers - they were always interested in Native American and Pagan religions as well, and they don't seem to have any trouble still respecting either one, even though now they're firmly Quakers. (Yes, they've changed identities a lot.) I'm normally not a fan of organized religion, but this really seems to be helping them get more grounded and serene.

That is what is so awesome about liberal Quakers-they explore and respect other religions. So much so they teach it to their children. Which is why I said it was almost a neo or psuedo Buddhist kind of thing.
I went to this place when I was a teenager called Powell House. It was a weekend retreat once a month in upstate New York. It was very awesome.

It's like a Christian version of Unitarianism...

It's too bad there aren't any Quaker schools near where my sister and her family live in Tennessee - I remember a few friends in Massachusetts attending one when I was a kid, and having the same experience you describe for your daughter. But they travel to attend Quaker meetings and conferences, so the kids are getting some nice exposure to the good people and thoughtful philosophy.

Thanks for the good wishes!

Hey, you may or may not want your business URL listed on an open post on your LJ. Google will know and the vast hordes of people searching for you will find it and read all your public posts before (maybe) going on to your business site.

Ah, hadn't thought of that, thanks. I'll remove the link and y'all can email me if you want it :-)

I was wondering where you were hiding.

If it helps any, I'm turning 36 in about a month, and I've been reassured that it is still my "mid-thirties." I'm not sure where the cutoff between mid- and late- thirties occurs, but I'm not there yet.

Congrats on the new business! That's really awesome that's its taking off the way is has. :)

BTW, I like the "Lightening Round" LJ update idea. I might have to use that. I'm notorious for putting off my updates until they aren't really relevant any more.

Yeah, the Lightening Round helped me finally restart - I had the same issue with relevancy. And the more I waited, the easier it was not to post at all. Now I'm going a little nuts with the postings - prolly need to cut that out :-)

Your age comment reminds me of a line in Hedwig and the Angry Inch: "I was in my late early 20's." Always loved that line. Maybe I'll start saying I'm in my mid early 30's.

So, does that put me in the "late middle thirties"?

If we're going the Hedwig route you would also be in your late early thirties :-)

I'm so glad things are coming together so well for you. I'm really sorry I missed you guys in London, between not having email and the health problems and what not it's been a bit chaotic for me lately. To be fair I wouldn't have been at my best and I'd want to enjoy time with you properly.

Of course that means now you either need to find another excuse to visit the UK sometime or I'm just going to have to get my butt out to the states eventually! x

I understand, and I figured it was bad timing for all that you're going through right now! So yes, you're going to have to get your butt out to the States. Did I mention my ultra-lovely guest room wherein I promise to leave little chocolates on the pillows for any international visitors? :-)
