I actually see this as a good thing. While as a writer, I appreciate the demands of the WGA, I really don't think there is enough consistency and accountability in the online/non-broadcast revenue streams to generate a practicable industry-wide solution like what the WGA is after. I think this is a wake-up call to them and will make everyone come back to the table a little more willing to negotiate. Plus - I WANT ME SOME DAILY SHOW! I mean, without it, what checks and balances are there to oppose the executive branch? It's not like we have a judicial or legislative branch to fill that role.
