Book 16: Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death (Agatha Raisin #1).
Author: M. C. Beaton, 1992.
Genre: Cosy Mystery. Comedy.
Other Details: ebook. 196 pages.

High-flying public relations supremo Agatha Raisin has decided to take early retirement. She's off to make a new life in a picture-perfect Cotswold village. To make friends, she enters the local quiche-making competition - and to make quite sure of first prize she secretly pays a visit to a London deli. Alas, the competition judge succumbs after tasting her perfect quiche, and Agatha is revealed as a cheat and potential poisoner. Definitely not the best start. So Agatha must turn amateur sleuth - she's absolutely got to track down the real killer! - synopsis from author's website.

Thanks to a Kindle Daily Deal I was able to get the first eight in this popular long-running series. It was a perfect cosy mystery with Agatha as the proverbial fish-out-of-water or rather the urban Londoner moving to the countryside where 'incomers' are not well received by those born and raised in the picturesque villages of the Cotswolds.

Also, Agatha is an abrasive personality and this along with other factors created plenty of amusing situations that kept me giggling throughout. I am looking forward to the next in the series.
