You're not supposed to eat raw lentils, they're toxic. O_O Google "eating raw lentils", or look up "lentil" on Wikipedia... (I've heard that raw rice is bad, too.)

I checked out the local supermarket after your last post, and found the red and green variety. Their protein content was impressive, but what put me off somewhat was the cooking time: 30 mins in total (10 on a roaring fire, then 15-20 on simmer). Rice, which I cook almost daily, takes only 10 mins. I can imagine lentils making my gas bill skyrocket. :/ Then again, perhaps the cooking time can be reduced with pre-soaking? (The instructions were for cooking right out of the packet.)

Cooked rice and lentils in milk sounds potentially yummy, though! I'll probably give it a shot...

There's apparently a noticeable difference between periods when I use the stove, and when I don't, so I imagine that doubling my stove use would have a noticeable difference too. :/

Oh snap!! @.@

Well there goes what I hoped to be a good idea :/

I just don't have time to cook my entire next day's meal in the evening. My schedule is: wake up, shower, shave etc. then go to work, then the gym straight after and then back home and in to bed.

I'm gonna have to try to find some time to prepare them, I guess.

I'm thinking that I could still make a lentil "shake" if I boil the lentils when I get home, then let them dry out through the day while I'm at work, and then grind them down into a powder after I get home from the gym (in preparation for the next day). I read that soaking them in warm water kills off most of the "phytic acid".
