I feel the most urgent desire to explain why I love this ship. So here goes!!

Okay, so, several weeks ago, I finished watching Baccano! the anime. LOVED. IT. Awesome story-telling, awesome characters, awesome music, awesome action and awesome romance. *Love* all the canon ships. They're just... AWESOME.
But, there's another pair of characters that intrigued me... A ship that wasn't made canon in the anime. An innocent, lonely heiress filled with hope and determination, and a brilliant young mafioso who could be calculating and ruthless when the need arose. Two characters who barely interacted in the anime, but I just couldn't get rid of the powerful, insistent urge to ship them. I'm not really sure what it was. I just know that when Eve said that she desperately wanted to find out what happened to her brother and would stop at nothing, I knew that sooner or later, she would eventually have to meet Luck. And I remember strongly anticipating the moment when they would come face to face.
They did. And they hardly said anything to each other, didn't even share a scene with just the two of them, but I wasn't as disappointed as I thought I would be. I shrugged the pairing off, figuring that shipping them together wasn't a big deal, and thought to myself, "eh, it was probably nothing, forget about it."
BUT THEN. I started hunting around for Baccano! fanfics on LJ, ff.net, etc... And I noticed that there were quite a few fics about Luck/Eve. And so I read them. And then I fell for this ship hard. So yeah, I blame thank those fanfic writers for turning me into the Luck/Eve hardcore shipping MONSTER that I now am. (A ton of those fanfics are on my list of recommendations below.)
BUT I'M NOT FINISHED YET!! After doing even more investigating, I became aware of the existence of a glorious, outstanding piece of literature: The 4th Baccano! novel, titled "1932 Drugs and the Dominoes" by Ryogo Narita. Needless to say, I read it (both fan translations of it). My reaction? AGLDSJFHK; WHY WAS THIS NOT IN THE ANIME?!?!?! *RAAAAGE*
The chemistry and romantic tension between them was OUT OF THIS WORLD.
The heated words, the seething anger, the accusations. Followed by the realization that she's actually more like him than she could have ever imagined. Leading to the moment where he protected her, saved her. IN A TOTALLY BAD@$$ WAY
Then the fact that they continued to think about each other long after wards, even when they really have no reason to, since they figure they're probably not going to meet each other again (over my dead body!!). Why did he care enough to tell her where her brother was, and what does it matter to him what she does with the information? And why should his happiness concern her? She got what she wanted--now she could find her brother, which was what she set out to do in the first place. So why was she hesitating on his and his brothers' behalf?
And then there was the whole "Hey Luck, isn't it time you find a girlfriend and get settled down?" teasing from Berga.
AND THUS, AN OTP WAS BORN.
