I robbed Fluterbev blind! Muwahahahah!
This has been going around like wildfire, and I felt like maybe it'd work on my journal. Anyway, it'd be cool to read something YOU guys wrote. ;)
Okay, I'm cheating and cutting out like ten or so stories that I know if you type in the first line, you can find it in Google.
Some things aren't meant to be dug up ever, ever again. *sigh*
I'm not including the stuff that I've finished and am never showing anyone though. That would take forever. But I will include everything I've done in the past two years and was posted for public consumption.
Good grief. I realized that I have really bad openings. No wonder no one reads my stuff.
The rules are: pick one of the lines. And write a 100-500 word drabble on it. It can be one scene. It can be a complete story. The others said that you must use the line in the beginning of your story, but I'm flexible.
Thing is, I wouldn't normally do this, but I'm kinda lonely and I'm being bombarded with stories from my muse. I would like to read some, for a change. And it'd be great to know I'm not alone with the muse-gone-insane.
Anyway here are some of my completed ones:
_______________________________________________________
1: It was the silence that bothered him most, the vast acres of unending emptiness with nothing but his heartbeat to keep the time.
2: The first loud rumble of thunder was what woke him, but it was the quiet whimper that kept him awake.
3: Their relationship holds the strength of a proverb, sometimes.
4: "Don't be such a wimp! You're already a ghost. How could you be scared by The Sixth Sense? It's not even really creepy, for a movie."
5: It is odd that so many of them are atheists.
6: As he watched Hikaru sleep and waited for him to wake, Fujiwara no Sai wondered what it was like to dream.
7: Morning had yet to break, but the wind already held the scent of rain.

And some nearly complete stuff that might be posted to the journal, if I ever lose my mind. It's probably cheating, but since having only seven lines probably severely limits creative possibilities, I'll release these. Good grief, I really don't post much, do I? Thank goodness. Anyway ...

8: I think the weird little guy with the beard had it right.
9: Not everything tastes like chicken.
10: In the end, in the choice between fire and ice, it was ice.
11: When I think about it, everything that happened was due to the fact that Mrs. Peanuckle on the third floor likes to drink Fresca.
12: At the cross of the roads, the one legged man sat, dreaming of what he had lost.
13: The old man was going to die. It was inevitable.
14: I fall into the fire and I dream.
15: Insanity did not become him.
16: He didn't like rain. The grey blank of the world when the clouds hung low, the soft, relentless clatter of water pooling on the roofs, sliding down the drains, and whirling into storm gutters to the darkness of the sea.

I cheated on the last one, but the first line just sucked.
Anyway, it spans quite a range of fandoms, from Sentinel, to Hikaru no Go, to Full Metal Alchemist, I think there's a Death Note ficcie in there, and some original stuff, and to some I rather not admit to.
I feel lonely and depressed. ;) Maybe y'all can help by putting in some stories? I know most of you are great writers yourselves, and I bet you guys will do a better job than me! :) And if you do, I'll uh ... up the ante by letting YOU challenge ME to write a drabble given a line of your choice. Cause it's only fair.
cheers,
muri
